Contemplating SSDI at age 60 due to Mantle Cell lymphoma... it is on the compassionate allowance list. would receive my full age 67 benefit as disability then if I make it to 67 becomes retirement. anyone have some insight here....

I'm sorry for what you're going through. Financially it sounds like taking it at age 60 -- and getting the full age 67 amount right away -- is a no brainer.

I just ran the raw numbers on retiring today at 66.5 years versus when I hit 70; according to my math there is a delta between the two monthly payments of just over $1,300, and looking only at the gross annual payments (i.e. without factoring taxes in), it would take 10 years before the payments equal out, so I'd be 80 then. But of course this isn't a real-world example because the extra taxes I'd be paying for the next 42 months would narrow the gap considerably. How much? Don't know as I don't have the time to figure it out.

I’m very sorry of your diagnosis of MCL. We don’t have enough information to advise you. Would need a ton of financial info. Which is personal and not really appropriate to share on the internet. You know your prognosis and I would say in general with MCL do what will benefit you the most now, that’s what you want to do. What will benefit you today. God bless you Sage63.

Good afternoon! Fixed a clogged bathroom sink. I am not getting any younger, hands and knees work, is a PITA. ;) Raining here today and the wipers on the Avalon could use replacement. Not streaking just not cleaning the windshield clear enough. Put on a set of Bosche Icon's and made a big difference. I have not replaced wiper blades in a while and the sticker shock,, was an eyeopener. Even with the $8 off they were still overpriced. On the way to Costco some fool in a Dodge charger entered from the right merge on and gassed it passing me on the rear and to my left. I saw the rear end start to slide right so I let up off the gas. It took both lanes for him to regain control of the car. Some people never pay attention in physics class.:rofl: Glad there was no one directly in front of me or there would have been a collision.

So, I went to the hangar to drop off the cookies. WOW! We've shined everything! I didn't know Betty Boop Jeep was green - it thought dust was its natural color. The neon bomber sign is never on! The 1918 Republic even looks like it works! There's a brand new Jeep on loan from a local dealer - my premise is that if we put on enough decals, we can keep it! Almost all the planes will actually parked outside for the dance, so it won't look like this. C-47 will be in Dallas. B-25 is going to do a "night time engine start" during a band intermission. Those new LED highbay fixtures sure look nice! I'll give you a tour!

I bought several Bosch wiper blades a couple of years ago for less than three bucks a blade. But the last time I checked Rock Auto (as I'm writing this) they weren't carrying them. But they still have a wide selection for less than $5 and if you buy several at a time it reduces the shipping cost per blade. Bosch blades seem to be longer lasting than Anco/Trico options.

    Evening all:

Hoping for the SIL to get better Tom, sounds like she is getting the best care possible.

Love that olive drab green MB jeep Kurt, I had one like that a long time ago, not as pretty and dressed up like the one you posted, but a lot of fun to play around with.
Couple of unique things about them come to mind, take notice to the hinges and wing nut on the headlight brackets and the small headlights, they are made to flip up to provide light towards the rear for motor work, etc.. There is no gas fill and gas cap on the drivers side, you need to flip the seat up and remove a large gas cap on top of the gas tank, and then you have to reach inside to fill it up. They don't have a tailgate and were made by both Ford and Willys with interchangeable parts, mine was a Ford. They are slightly smaller than the CJ2 versions that followed, and If I remember correctly, the hole below the headlights is for recessed small rectangular running lights for night driving.
Wish I would have kept it, it even had the rear seat like pictured.
OH, I even made a fishing trip to Canada with it, nobody would go with me  and I felt every bump in the road up and back while cruising along at around 45 mph!

    Welcome Clay!
I had 2 regular cab Tacoma's, that option is gone also, like you, I do like the Access Cabs, I have no desire for a 4 door truck.
BTW, the porch cooler's almost empty and it's your turn to fill it! :D

Happy birthday Marines, and a thanks to all the veterans past and present. :oldglory:

:( Buddys grandson missed a doe this morning, Sheez, nothing's going right!

I'll have to remember to do a "car show" feature on our little vehicles. Most "work", enough to move, anyway! The Republic needs someone who is probably dead to uncover the quirks - something about the magneto.... Apparently, the dance clean up is the attention they get! Sounds like something I could do, not being an aviation mechanic! We use the tug, forklift, or little tractor to move stuff around, so the rest just don't get the attention.

I have no brilliant words of wisdom but this. I was forced to "Retire" at 54 and go on disability from multiple spinal fusion surgeries. The when I turned 65 it was switched over to just plain old Social Security benefits with no change in the dollar amount. And I started receiving my retirement check from the state. It's not much, but it really did give me some breathing room. Next year when I file my tax return, I'll find out how much I will owe Uncle Sam from making all this money. Serious sarcasm here. Then I'll know how much to have them withhold each month so I can just break even each year after that.

So sorry about the MCL, but if you can get the full retirement age $$ then take it and run!!! Enjoy your life and take the time to smell the roses while you can.

Maybe I got a bad set, but they were horrible and didn't last very long. I have to replace my wiper blades every year and like you said $$

I started 3 months after I turned 63.... mainly due to the number of ER visits I was having. If it wasn't for that, don't know when I'd have pulled the plug but no regrets on doing it. Was thinking the same thing.... My sister had paid in $57,000 to SS and got not one single penny of it....

    evening boys

No big insight, I would check out the compassionate allowance that could also include Medicare qualify for a supplement. Also you should get understanding your maximum lifetime Medicare reserve benefit. I didn't know about this till my brother's wife in Erie had that discussion with the hospital when he ended up using 3 of those days. He pulled through. He got out long enough for the reset back to the 60 day mark before he started the clock again. I don't entirely understand that rule but hopefully you never have to go there. It's somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 consecutive days in hospital days, after that you become responsible for the entire daily costs.

TY for the pics. Th JD jeep is a killer! The current jeep fits right in with all the stickers. My mom served in the Womans Amry Air Corps during WWII. The team you are on does fantastic work.

I needed them for the trip tomorrow, so I had to pay the price. Took the wife's Avalon to the gym yesterday and decided it needed new wiper blades.

Good morning. Getting a small shopping list together for a quick BJ's run. The free turkey was put in the account this morning so I will go right after working out. Today should be an easy one. See what the wife needs done and then out to dinner and music tonight.
