I was wondering what @Camerasandcoffee was mentioning lol

In the end, I'm kinda glad this happened. I learned a hell of a lot and got plenty of reps in on taking off and installing that actuator.

I was one of those kids that took apart their pens just to see how it works btw

Haters gonna hate but I do have a soft spot for classic Wagoneers. I had a '79 for a while in the early 90's. It was a $750 rusted out beater. What my HS auto shop teacher referred to as a trash-mo special.
We laugh now but it had features that are now commonplace in modern SUV's shift on the fly 4wd via vacuum actuator located in the glovebox. no 4lo with that Quadra-trac system. Power window in the tailgate that would make any T4R owner proud.

Granted my '79 wasn't one of the best years they made them. AMC 360 with ford ignition and GM electrical. First gen smog control that would make a diesel owner un-delete their delete kits gladly.

This one isn't priced too badly. Most I've seen are $8k rusted out hulks or $36k clean-ish resto's.

I was that kid too. Wayyy back in HS I used to take apart my Sony walkman cassette player regularly in study hall to fix the spring connectors in the headphone jack. Teachers didn't know if they should bust me for having a walkman in school or leave me be because it was in pieces.

Does anyone here remember cassettes? This was back in the dinosaur age before digital CD's and such. Music the way it was meant to be heard, analog with a high noise floor and lots of wow and flutter. Gritty with slightly better than FM quality.
Ahhh the halcyon days. Dammit you kids, I said stay off my lawn!

Edit: I just had to add some video.

Question for those that know more about wiring than I do: Looking at Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport flush mount lights for my back up lights on the flatbed. Question is: if I power those from the factory backup power wire, will I have enough juice? My guess is no. So... How do I power those with an appropriate amperage and have it switched to the backup light? Relay? Can that work with the backup light power as the switched side? What says the hive mind?

If I'm reading the DD site correctly, each SS3 sport flush mount in white color would take 1.1A so a total of 2.2A for a pair. From a quick search I found claims that our reverse circuit has a 10A fuse and OE bulbs pull like 3A. You should be fine, no relay needed.

Edit: Thinking about what you are trying to accomplish a bit more...I'm assuming you are eliminating the stock taillight housings and going with only the DD SS3 pods as your reverse lights. You should have zero problem replacing the OE light with just the SS3 pod. Where it would get more complicated is if you wanted to run a switch to also control these lights when you aren't in reverse, i.e. for work/flood purposes at camp, when winching in the dark, etc. If you want to do that too, you're going to have to run it a little bit differently with some relays/diodes.

You can tap them off the lights or the trailer wiring. That’s what most people do

I had an 8-track in my 67 Buick WIldcat, but upgraded to a Pioneer Supertuner in my next car, that was the Bees Knees!

I cut the dash on my Nova to have the Supertuner fit. I figured in the dash it would be safe. Nope. But yeah, it was a sweet sounding unit. Looked cool, too.

Back in the day the pioneer super tuner was the best sounding deck you could buy!

I had one in multiple vehicles, it was always the goto!

I had a remote control monster truck when I was a kid, and it had a detachable winch that actually worked. Well, it worked until I took it apart. :anonymous:

    My '03 4Runner had a cassette deck.

    I still listen to CD's.

I'm still on Blu Ray. Sometimes I stream things, too.

Thanks Adam. These are going to be in the edge of the bed with the taillights and just used for reverse. So much light from so little power... and that 22/24 ga wire... okay then, easy peasy!

I am going to sacrifice some extra plug/wiring from one of the taillight I have destroyed (yup, multiples...) and use the stock setup as much as possible. Reliability and weather proofness.

Had one of those too, forgot all about it! When portable CD players came out, I had one of those cassette adapters that plugged into the headphone jack...too many cassettes to abandon them and too cheap to buy an in dash setup.

Well, not much of a hit to the pocketbook and no stickers, but bought a set of Spotter Mirrors off of the 3rd Gen marketplace. Cost 2/3 of new, couldn't pass them up. BSM and heater compatible!
