I suspect (no offense, but ...) your friend has dealt with the wrong kind of finance people. Payments on most legit loans are "mostly interest" at first and "mostly principle" toward the end. If you are near the end you are paying little or no interest.

 

Also confirming - haven't got the mod myself, but I asked about it before signing cause it's definitely my go-to habit.

Just got a little dusting of snow just now. was 24 degrees when I left my house this morning.

 

It’s been a long 12 years.

I have been working on the Honda since the weather is now cooperating. Bought it non running and sat for 10 years this summer for $250. Started last Tuesday. Running great now and all shined up. Need a few more parts to get it on the road.

1998 900RR Honda. Just been sitting for years. Team great when I parked it. Really just needs carbs tuned d cleaned and some minor parts like a chain.

 

Too much bike for me.

We checked out the white tanks park since it’s free entry today for military, it’s a nice area and way more expansive than I realized. We’ll definitely go back there.

It could be that the logic was you have an older loan at a reasonable APR, and you might be getting more interest from a savings.

APY on my Discover bank savings is something like 4.something% now. If I had a loan at 2% or so it'd make more sense to keep that lump sum in my savings and slowly pay down the loan.
