Did CA have $7.5 Billion for EV infrastructure (2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act)?

12 years ago there were no charging stations, now there are over 50,000. This does not include home chargers.

For comparison, there are about 145,000 (API.org) gas stations in the US.

Not only will it simply take a while to build out that many chargers, but the majority of what gets built will likely be of the “Level 2” variety, which can replenish about 25 miles of battery capacity per hour.” Verve, 2021.

There are over 30M cars in California. Do the math, assuming 30-40% of those cars don’t have access to reliable home charging, and it taking 30-60 times the amount of time to charge an EV than to fill up, California alone will need about 15-25x the amount of public level 2 chargers than we do gas pumps.

Every path to make this work relies on some pretty insane hope. And this is assuming our stressed grid in CA can take it during the summer months when we nearly touch full capacity every other week.

I’m pro EV and likely buy one for a second car. But this is a option for SFH owners mostly.

If every vape and tattoo shop had an ev charger out front nobody would be able to claim charging is hard to access

A couple weeks out of alleged production, and it would seem that Toyota has applied it’s just-in-time manufacturing process to Tacoma sales:

TMC will apparently text you the trim, color, options, and price of the truck you’re getting, immediately after it arrives at your local dealer.

Takes all the stress out of the process. Just have your checkbook ready, relax, and enjoy the lively EV debate…

It’s the gift that keeps on giving the whole year….

Unfortunately, there is a chance, however slight, that you could accidentally receive a C-HR instead of a Trailhunter. Keep your receipt.

Except it doesn't take hours to fill up. The charge time is what ruins ev cars for me except for local commuting if you have a charger at home

I’m glad for the EVs. It means they are not in line @ Costco gas. It also means one heavily subsidized and near monopolistic industry (oil and gas) is in competition with another heavily subsidized and monopolistic industry (electric).

I’m not ready to go full EV for my uses (yet). We are now on our second Toyota company hybrid (both rock) and am very much looking forward to the coming turbo+hybrid in the Tacoma and 250-series LC. Toyota motor company knows their electrification tech.

EVs diverts/reducing gasoline demand lower demand and, aside from the near monopoly of oil/gas, should reduce gas prices a little for the rest of us.

Probably, it’s amazing how many will argue and fight for OPEC and the oil industry overall on this and on other boards.

It gets so twisted and people saying ‘they are taking away my choice’. No, you have a choice buy/don’t buy/get the version without the hybrid. Spend your money the way you want.

Don’t forget the type of person who hates the people in the Middle East also loves making them all billionaires.

Each gas station averages 20 pumps, each ev charging station averages 3.. What takes 4 minutes to fill a typical car takes 50 minutes or more for EV’s
I think hydrogen technology is a much much better option for the environment, too bad politicians aren’t heavily financially invested in that technology like they are EV’s.
In my area, there almost no ev charging options. They literally have EV’s on the lot for 9 plus months with massive discounts on the window. If there is a change in leadership there will be an indefinite moratorium placed on ev adaptation.

Regarding the Tacoma, I’m thinking Sr5, add very small lift, add 33 inch tires and aftermarket wheels, then change the grille. Was wanting the OR, but those wheels are not for me. Don’t really need terrain select. The locking rear diff is hopefully an option on the SR5

There many different ways to achieve carbon neutrality. Not sure why they are so hell bent on BEVs. My guess more money to make in those type of minerals. I used to be all about bio-diesel, no need to reinvent the wheel either, but came to the realization that the human race can’t be saved, and the planet would probably be better off without us. Now in the “smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em!” camp…we are all fucked, might as well go down smiling.

As for the Tacoma, wouldn’t change a thing about that silver lifted SR5 other than making it a long bed with a cab high topper. Like everything about it, even the grill and wheels. Was really turned off by the 4G in general, saw that and a switch flipped.

I like that truck too. It's my fav of the ones shown so far. I need to see what features and options are model limited though. If that truck has auto leveling headlights, that my by the way I go. I would be super excited to buy a truck and NOT have to swap a stupid grille. Wheels and tires are a given, so no biggie there. Cab height cap for me though, LB or SB, I'd have to see what sacrifices have to be made on one or the either.

Configurator can't go live quick enough for me.

Yes this is great. Let the unwashed masses drive EVs so we can have gasoline for our trucks for a few years longer

I’m not even a fan of leather seats in trucks but I want that truck. It looks amazing and I really like the buckled storage on the seat backs.
