    Hello!

This is one of my first posts here so if i am missing another post the explains it more my apologies. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what could be the cause? I have already had my AC drain lines cleared, and i do not have a sun roof. I notice that it usually only happens after a hard rain. I would also mention that my cabin air filter is alway bone dry. One test that i did was to douse the truck with a hose and i noticed that water was pooling at the base of the windshield. I feel like that is connected. But i am not totally sure how to solve it. Any suggestions would be really helpful and if someone already answered this somewhere else a link would be good too.

    Thanks!

Mine was rear window seal and 3rd brake light. I siliconed around the 3rd brake light and where the window seal was broken.

We had a Toyota Matrix that the sun roof drain lines clogged. This caused water to pool in the passenger floor boards.

I had a sunroof drain kinked in my former Nissan Altima, I installed an elbow and fixed the problem.

Thanks for the replies. I should mention that i do not have a sun roof so that isnt it. But i definitely havent checked the third brake light and window. Would your rear floor get wet also? Where was the water actually coming in your cab? Behind the rear seats?

My 07 does it on very rare occasions, 1 or 2 times a year. Always on the front passenger side. I have rubber floor mats and what little water comes forms a puddle that is easy to get out and nothing else seems to get wet. It does it so rarely I haven't been able to determine exactly where it is coming from. It seems to be only during a HEAVY rain when parked nose up but I'm not even sure about that. Since it is such a minor inconvenience, I don't worry about it.

Seeing as you have a 2005 and the cabin filter is NOT wet, its likely the cab seam.
There is a TSB on it for 2005 trucks. See the file below.

It's possible its the antenna leaking. But that is rare.

Have you ever had the windshield replaced?
They either leak soon after they are placed or years later.
Like 5-10 years later. If the person removing the windshield scratched the paint too much, it can lead to rusting and a leak years later.

That is another common reason for a leak in the floor board too/

I have not. However i need to. My insurance will only cover it if it is smashed though. Thus why i am not super motivated to change it. But if its the reason for the water then im definitely replacing it.

Mine was leaking at the top of the windshield. Would fill the sun glass holder, leak into the cup holders and the passenger floorboard. Windshield wasn’t damaged. When I got it replaced they said whoever did it before must not have had the right seal. They cut the seal into pieces and tried to make it work by filling the voids with extra sealant which then dried and cracked and left gaps around the windshield. Glass shop said it happens with mobile installers sometimes. Make what you have work or risk the consequences of an upset customer and boss because you don’t have the materials to do the job on hand.

So after trying the water bottle method and seeing nothing i think i am going to schedule a new windshield. Like i said, i need one anyway but hopefully i kill two birds here. Thanks for all of the replies guys. If the windshield ends up fixing the issue, i will update here.

My windshield was less than my $500.00 deductible.
I think it was around $250. But that was about 7 or 8 years ago.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Call Safelite and see if your truck can be used for a training class and get it fixed for free.

Hey everyone, i wanted to respond to this thread to update you all on the resolution of the water issue in my cab. I had the windshield replaced (technically twice because safelite screwed it up) and that fixed my water issue. I wish i was able to find the area where the water was coming in but at this point i am just glad that it is finally fixed. Thanks to everyone who responded here!

wow. Replies about sunroof drains for trucks that don’t have sunroofs.

    -avoid safelite
-put a shield on your cabin intake
    -inspect the area for cracks
-verify the cowl is installed properly and without gaps. Toyota has a TSB for this. They are on cowl revision 4
-make sure nothing else causing it like an unsealed snorkel bracket
