Heard that. I have a rattle in the headliner that I’m avoiding going after, but there’s one in the dash somewhere that’s making me crazy

My wife and I took the Tacoma on a little camping trip this weekend. Perfect weather for campfires and snacks.

Be kinda nice to leave the kids at home and do this as a date weekend. Especially with a wall tent and wood burning stove.

Where did it corrode? I'd like to resolve that before it becomes an issue. The screws? The threaded nuts?

The screws,… and this is in Southern California weather… next time I do an oil change, I’ll have to drill them out or modify them somehow.

Tested mx4 for water intrusion into bed while washing. To my surprise almost no water made it into to the bed other that at the tailgate from the pressure washer or garden hose. We had a light rain earlier in the week and I did see some water on the sides of the bed, not enough to get anything wet. So now I have to decide whether it’s worth pulling side rails to seal. Mayde I will wait until we get enough rain to make the roads really wet and see how much gets in.

Personally, I never load anything into there that I wouldn't be comfortable with getting wet even with the cover. I also utilize Rubbermaid bins for storage when camping which works great for keeping food dry.

Good to know, thanks. I'll remove mine while they're still new and replace them with SS. I did spray the threads with WD40 before I put them in but I'd feel better with SS now. Tnx!

Whenever someone rides with me, after they get out the seat belt is twisted 90 degrees and makes a rattle until I flip it so it lays flat.
Hope it’s something simple for you!

I've had the MX4 on my truck for a year. The two main places I have had water get in was at the front of the bed (they give some soft rubber tabs for the edges of the front rail which help tremendously) so look for any little gaps there. Also around the tailgate - this isn't from the cover but from gaps around the tailgate. I used a tailgate seal (helps with dust also) and some of the front rail weatherstripping in the MX4 kit (that you don't need for the 3rd Gen) to seal where the top edges of the tailgate meet the sides of the bed. The high pressure wash wand at the car wash can also squeeze some water in. So it's not fully water or dust proof but what gets in has not been an issue for me.

Funny you should mention that. I have had the same issue. Today I took my truck in for service and heard a rattling noise afterwards when I was out wheeling at Hollister Hills. Two issues, 1 the dipshit tech put the oil change access panel on backwards….
    IMG_6329.jpg
The second was I started hearing a rattling noise underneath while I was ascending a black diamond trail and had no room to turn around, let alone stop and check. When I got to a spot where I could get out and check I discovered a bolt was missing where the engine and transmission skid meet. Needless to say my day was done since I didn’t have any extra bolts on board to remedy the issue. When I got back to civilization I was able to pick up up a bolt and washer and fix it. My prior service at Victory Toyota they removed the skid plate to perform the oil change. Apparently these yahoos didn’t use any locktite. Like they say, if you want something done right do it yourself!

Had the same issue as well as some squeaks in the same area. When I pulled the speaker cover to install DS18 tweeters I found that the mount for the auto-headlight sensor was loose. So I inserted a few thin strips of rubber insulation around it as well as along the edges of the grill, in particular between the speaker grill and the edge of the window trim, all below the surface so isn't visible. No more squeaks or rattles. I don't recall where I got the material, but it's something like this stuff so it's easy to cut up:

    https://www.amazon.com/6x6-Inch-Neoprene-Plumbing-Material-Protection/dp/B018H9CCPG?th=1

You can find something similar at Home Depot or your local auto parts store.

You could probably use some 3M trim adhesive tape too.
