Hi yall! New member here. Just a quick intro. And some questions.

I’m also a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon owner (don’t hold that against me) and decided to go for something different for my next daily drive. vehicle. My Jeep is going to be used on weekends only and sent to semi retirement. It’s got 175k and has 37’s on it. Not the best for daily drivin’. And I’ve been overdue for a new ride for a while.

Yesterday I purchased a 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and am thoroughly enjoying the tech upgrades and comfort features over my 13+ year old Rubicon I’ve had for seemingly forever.

I also have a few questions for the experts here.

    1. I really want the raptor style lights for my pro. (Don’t give me shit please). Almost all of them I’ve seen for sale say specifically they won’t fit the OEM Pro grill. Does anyone offer Raptor lights that DO fit the OEM Pro grill? Link please!!!

    2. My wife has a Honda hybrid that also has cameras all around it. I’ve never had a car with cameras. Period. On her car when you turn on the turn signals the camera on the side where the turn signal was flipped automatically flips on and takes over on the screen. Does the Tacoma have this option? The only time I’ve seen the cameras activate is in reverse.

    3. my wife’s high tech car also beeps when she leaves the lane a bit and the steering wheel even nudges a bit. Do the tacomas have this option too? How do I turn that on?

    4. My Tacoma also came with a BakFlip MK4 Tonneau cover. I don’t know much about these but it seems pretty secure. Do I need to worry about storage underneath it? People breaking into the tonneau cover? Or is it safe to leave gear overnight in the bed? What about the tailgate - With the tonneau cover is it still possible for someone to steal the tailgate?

    5. My Tacoma also has CBI Overland Rock Sliders on it. Does anyone know anything about them? I haven’t searched but I do like the way they look.

    1. If you REALLLLY want the lights, you can find them. Just gotta look. It's your truck, if you want to look dumb...you are more than welcome :anonymous:. Seriously though, there are raptor lights out there that will fit, search and look at pics with lights and ask the owners.
    2. No, I love that Honda did that but pretty sure is proprietary. I haven't seen any other manufacturer do that just yet.
    3. Yes and no, you have a lane departure warning but not lane keep assist. It will let you know when you leave the lane but no technology in these trucks to keep you centered in the lane.
    4. This is dependent on where you live. If you feel safe leaving stuff in the back of the truck without the tonneau, then you are fine. But if you have to ask a forum, sounds like you already know the answer. You can install a tailgate lock that will lock your tailgate handle when you lock the truck. There are OEM and AFTM options for this. Search on here for all the info. That will deter most thieves but at the end of the day...if there is a will, there is a way. There are also tailgate theft deterrent devices as well. Nothing is 100% but if it isn't easy, most thieves will go on to the next truck.
    5. CBI is a good name. They should hold up to some abuse. If it was me, I would unbolt them...wash the frame very well where they mount...coat the frame and sliders with some type of metal protector (fluid film, cosmoline) and then reinstall. Toyota isn't known for making robust frames.

    Welcome to TW!

My mom has a Sorento Hybrid that has this tech as well. Toyota is just slow as shit at adapting. Word is the 4G Tacoma will have a 720p resolution v the current 480p on the 3G.

They have adapters for both pro and OR grills for the raptors.

For bed cover, just get a tailgate remote lock. As along as your cover has a hard shell you’re covered. Not 100% but decent.

#3, to have the lane correct feature requires electronic steering which is in Avalons, Crowns, & maybe other models. Toyota trucks don't have that...yet.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

I was about ready to park my truck and walk home from the dealership over the lane departure warnings.
Thank God it can be turned OFF..
