The tow capacity of a 2007 Tacoma WITHOUT the tow package is 3500 lbs. With the tow package is 6500. But in the real world 4500-5000 is more realistic.

Realistically, 4,000 is about the limit for me. Sure, it'll pull it. It will not stop it very effectively without a brake controller. Don't get me wrong, I've been very happy with my Tacoma. But there are some things that a full size truck will do better.

This is approx. 4,200 lbs. 2,000 for the trailer, 2,200 for the car.

U Haul doesn't have anything to say about it. Their insurance company calls the shots.
Drivers inexperienced with towing, not leaving enough stopping distance means plenty of rear enders that cost the friendly and helpful insurance companies money, so No Haul.

Rent a Uhaul pickup and the car trailer. Save your truck the wear and tear of towing the load w/o trailer tow package.

one of their Silverado's is $20 to rent with a trailer. I know this because my nephew told them the truth when I wanted to just get a tow dolly to drag his 90 truck home.

That 6500 is weight of loaded trailer. It is unaffected by the truck's load. Trailer TONGUE weight is what effects your truck's payload capacity and should be included with the the people and cargo in the truck.

Do you have the OEM class 4 hitch on your truck, or is it an aftermarket trailer hitch of some sort? Picture perhaps?

Uhaul trailers use hydraulic surge brakes, so no brake controller is necessary.

I would not say Uhaul or even Curt Hitches (They both rate the Tacoma lower than Toyota) under rate the Tacoma but Toyota overrating the Tacoma's capacity.
