Thanks for the reminder! I need to toss mine in the back seat floor. Hopefully I will be able to get the truck to fit in the garage well once the miata goes away for storage in Branford. I think there are still a few days left of top down weather, with gloves and a beanie on of course

Last night I told the missus about buying the new wheels and tires after speaking with my council about it. How it makes more sense to sell the OEM tires with more tread.
She says "who was this council you speak of"
"The CT tacoma forum"
"Okay lets do it up"

So now I guess I get to spend downtime at work looking up tires! Method 701 in bronze will be the wheel. Now just to decide between a 16" and 17".

 

17s have way more options for rubber

 

Without me needing to go down multiple rabbit holes, would a 255/80/17 on a 17x8.5 wheel 0mm offset fit without a lift temporarily, until I can also save up for lift money? Or guide me to where I can semi easily find information. If not, Ill just need to ask the missus for a bigger allowance.

 

Co-worker is off this week and the next.

Then he's back for a few weeks, and then off again for the last weeks of December.

And I still have about 8 or 9 days to take off myself that I have to try and take once he's back.

I was this last night. What engine can't go into a miata these days. I wish they didnt put a hardtop on, that would be extra silly looking as a convertible.

I would go 17" all day.....I mentioned it earlier and then @Brownmatthall mentioned it too.....way more and way better options for skinnies in 17"

Also I believe the answer to your question is yes....they will fit.

Im personally going to go 255/80/17 Falken Wildpeaks AT3. Will also most likely go with american racing AR172 Baja wheels.

 

I watched this video a while back and thought it was just an overall great video with great information. It helped me also decide on skinny tires

 

They might fit, I got away with skinny 33s and a 1.25" spacer on the factory OR wheels which is pretty close to 0mm offset I think...but a buddy rubbed on a similar setup so its very truck-dependant. But if you rub the lift would just be a bandaid, cmc and/or some bumper trimming is the remedy

 

I would actually like to keep my OEM wheels and the extra $1300, but yeah I do wonder about that offset causing a rub. Whatever, this is all kind of a pipe dream right now. We would like to spend money on a stackable washer/dryer more if a good black friday deal comes up. That may take priority while I wait for a potential wheel/tire deal

 

You can definitely pick up some spidertrax used for a good deal around here and see what it'll do for cheap. Worst case just unload em for what you paid and move it along haha
