Im wanting to run rock lights that work as courtesy lights. I see that DSIM makes a harness that connects to the cab light switch which allows you to have rock or puddle lights come on when you unlock or have them stay on with the cab light switch in the on position. How would i wire this up? I know i need a relay that goes between the switch and the lights. I was gonna buy dsims t harness and try to wore my own rock harness to it. Dsim's t harness has a plug that goes to their rock light harness that they make, but if i make my own rock light harness i dont which wires to use to wire into the relay that will be needed. Anyone using dsim cab light t harness and or their rock harness?

This is the t harness and a diagram of basic wiring to their rock harness. I just dont know what gets wires off of their t harnessDSC1053_960x.jpg Base_Harness_1024x1024.jpg

You would have to probe the connector that goes to their relay to see what is hot when the doors are open or the switch is "on". Would be very simple to do.

Toyota has a kit that I bought from Sparks Toyota. It has 4 outside LED lights that come on when you approach the vehicle, open the doors or unlock the truck and the lights come on. It has two LED lights for under the dash that dim to a low night light that stays on. The kit took about 2 hours to install and was wired into the the drivers side wires, pretty simple. I will see if I can locate the install diagram.

Sparks Toyota is where I got mine from
. It's an awesome, well though out kit. Took some time to install, I went the extra step and did wire looms for a factory installed lift. Looks great at night time and rolling down the roads at night with the very dim under the dash lights adds the look of a luxury car.

thank you for that, not just trying to understand how this all works lol. maybe you can help me understand easier... I want to know how to run rock/puddle light off of the cargo switch. So i want them to work in tandem with the cargo/bed lights...( on with unlock, off with lock/close door. also have the functionality to turn the rock/puddle lights on with the cargo switch.) i dont know what wires to tap into on the cargo switch, and what wires need to go to and from the relay

Fused power to relay pins 86 & 30.
Relay pin 87 wire to added lamps.
Relay pin 85 to cargo lamp switch pin 5.
Added relay is parallel to cargo relay. Switch position selects DOOR/OFF/On for both relays.

Thank you, i think i mostly understand that.
When you say fused power to 86 & 30, you mean that will be power directly from the battery with an inline fuse?

What do you mean when you say added relay is parallel to cargo relay?

    Yes
By tapping the blue wire on the cargo lamp switch, it gets to function just like the Cargo Lamp Relay. (parallel)

    2 choices to achieve it.

Below is Cargo OEM circuit. (Notice Blue wire)

thank you for that, that makes sense. if I wanted to add a switch to control the rock/puddle lights independently from the cargo light how would the wiring look for that? so rock/puddle lights still come on with door unlock/open, but i can turn on rock/puddle lights with cargo/bed light off? thanks for your help!

Thank you very much for your help! So for the switch, one wire to blue, one wire to ground and the other to the relay?

For the relay do i go directly to the battery with an inline fuse, or can i do an add a circuit and tap off the fuse box under the dash?
