Looking to order a new Quad Cab 4x4 this September with the JBL TRD extra value and T|X Pro packages in Timberland Mica. Since I'm ordering in September it should be the 2012 model, rumors abound about the changes.

Can't decide on the automatic or manual transmission. Anyone have a model with these options? If you do what do you like/hate about this model. Thanks.

If you do extensive off-roading it would be better in Auto so you don't have to worry about your clutch.

I got a manual, I love the feel of a clutch and shifting, I'm planning on more of a desert runner then a rock crawler though.

Guess my question is: Will the TX be available in the 2012 model year?

Once again whipersnaper is in a 2012 thread lol.
No one knows what will be available for the 2012 model, but in september we will so you'll be safe.

That sucks for him, I enjoy driving with a manual, habit from driving heavy equipment. There is still time to decide...

 That blows. But didn't they get whatever that problem was fixed? The throwout bearing issue still exists, but I recall reading somewhere that the early 2nd gen manuals were particularly prone to failure, but not the later models.

I've seen lots of posts about the later model. Dec/Jan though they have a TSB for this issue, but its a bit early to know if it solved all issues or not.

But really, get the URD bearing, and then you wont have a problem until your bearing actually wears out.

What exactly is the TX Pro Package.. ive only seen a select few of these.. the Tundra Rock Warrior or whatever, is all over the place.. is the TX pretty much the Tacoma version of that?

The rims are by far my favorite item in the package...I got to see them on a truck before I left the states and they are badass!!!

Yeah they're nice wheels, but the tires still suck. As part of your deal, you should request a tire upgrade. I talked my dealer into throwing on BFG ATs in place of the Rugged Trails.

I had the 6 speed - and now own a 2o11 w/ an auto. I thought the manual was a great idea, until I was 5oK into shifting and thought WTH have I done.... :p

You're getting Pro with the beadlocks and exhaust combo, right?

I know the T/X is beadlocks and step rails.

If it's the wheels you're after, you can get those separately.

Just a heads up in case you didn't know...;)

I have a 2011 TX PRO access cab in black. 5 speed auto trans. Thing's a beast but there are some things I'm not happy with:

The stereo blows. My 05 Ford Focus has a Sony system that kicks the Toy's ass.

The tires are not any good in the snow. They are extremely hard compund. I'm looking for a set of Blizzaks for next winter.

I tried averything I can (yes I read the manual) but I can't figure out how to shut all the electronic bullshit off. Up at deer camp we have roads that would be a lot more fun if I could hang the ass end out but the stabilitrac
always cuts in and ruins the good time.

Other than this I really love the truck. For a V6 it's an animal and you can't beat that exhaust sound

I like them better than any rim that Toyota offers. The TRD FJ wheels that people seem to like I find to be the most ugly thing in the world. A little bit of dish is where its at with modern rims.
