Or on the flip side: The question is: are you ok selling to your neighbor only to have the truck maybe finally blow a gasket or the transmission grenades at 301,000 or the engine starts burning 1 qt/1000 because it's finally just had it? You'll never hear the end of it and his old lady will be egging him on to get his money back too. Your wife will never let it go either and you'll be fighting a battle on two fronts.

Personally, I wouldn't sell a vehicle that was still under warranty to a neighbor (or relative) and I wouldn't give him a break on the the price either.
This is business. Listen to your wife. How are you going to feel if he sells/flips it a short time later for $2-3k more than he paid and the wife gets wind of it? UH-OH! :annoyed: ya... YMMV

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I watched this play out when I was young.

Not a vehicle but a Horse . Started a live long feud between what was the best of friends.

They never made up both passed now .

    This lesson stuck with me.

Puck up the 4Runner, and lock up the Taco keys for a month. See what it's like not being able to drive it, but having to see it every day.

If make it a full month, so you don't break and steal your own keys to run an errand or just take a drive, then you might be ok parting with it

This is definitely a good idea on helping you decide if you really should sell this.

I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow. Nice and sunny here in Columbus, unusual for this time of year.

Put it up for auction with an optimistic reserve and if nobody bites sell it to your neighbor.

I've regretted letting a vehicle go. I wish I had done this.

My neighbor sold me his 80 series. I dumped a bunch of money into it, fixed it up, and it looks much better than when he had it.

He wanted to buy it back for me and I’m like “no.”

I agree, don’t sell it where you have to see it or to someone you know, just sounds like too much of a setup.

I think if you can pull it off, keep the truck, you take too good of care to let someone else Jack it up.

I'd have to agree with this. The moment you really need a truck, you'll regret selling it.

    I drive a Miata.

This has been my fear. When I went to sell my Frontier I had a co-worker that really wanted to buy it. I told him point blank that for the previous 5 years he listened to stories of me horribly abusing this truck, and I don't want to spend the next 5 years listening to stories about how expensive the repairs are. We both got a laugh out of it, and that was that.

I got a fair price on dealer trade, so that was where it went.

I'm with the ... buy the 4runner and let the taco sit... but I would never sell to someone I know... and yes, you appear to be leaving $$ on the table...

A friend of mine sold his Jeep to a buddy of his, then four months later the guy came around grousing about an expen$ive valve job needed for the V-8, it drove wedge between their friendship.

I have regretted every vehicle I have ever sold. Why not just keep it? You know the history of it. And yes, that seems low.
