Haha...I was looking at bikes yesterday as i am prone to do and saw this. Small world.

Same. I prob do 150-200mi/week and lube my chain 1x/month. might go more frequent if I notice it's looking especially dirty, or did a good amount of non-highway commuting, but otherwise meh.

In other news...I think I'm snagging a 2016 R3 to build out for the track.

Buddy of mine has had it for a while, has about 22k miles on it. Has been dropped but clean title, definitely needs some TLC, but most anything that would need replacing, I would already upgrade for the track (brakes, suspension, fairings, rearsets). he's hooking me up on a solid deal, $1700 plus a handgun i've been looking to sell (Springfield XD9 so not a huge loss lol). Will upload pics soon, but p much everyone i've discussed this with says it's a good buy, as long as I don't plan to outgrow it in a few months. But I'm not too worried about that since I have the BMW to scratch the power itch.

Man you just gave me a great idea, trade some of my (bachelor-era) guns for bikes. Wife can't get mad at me for buying more bikes if I'm getting rid of guns in the process

here are pics to assess. the only damage that's really got me concerned is potentially the exhaust...pic looks like it's dented and has a hole but it could just be the picture/lighting. Feel free to weigh in, the more opinions the merrier IMO

Haha yeah normally I wouldn't do this trade, but i just ordered a sig sauer p365 and almost never use my springfield, so figured I could use it to offset the cost somewhere lol. Initially I was just gonna sell it to make up the cost of the sig but this also works!

My road puts a lot of grit on it, so I have to clean more than that. No garage, no center stand, and no lift make the chain cleaning and eventual sprocket and chain swaps something I'd like to avoid on a future bike.

The CB500X was my test bed for getting back into bikes in general, the lower power, and the seating position. It was also one I knew was noob forgiving and affordable. Loving it's looks didn't hurt.

Now that I'm sure I love riding, I'm just looking for perfection. Shaft drive, reliable, smooth at highway speeds, good dealer network access, and some comfort features at a price I don't flinch too hard at. So fare, the Super Tenere is the only thing that fits and isn't a cruiser or super expensive. If it were 100 pounds lighter I'd be on one already.

    haha glad to hear it.

Right off the top of my head, I was thinking of doing an ohlin's rear, some new front fork cartridges with some adjustability and new springs for my weight, maybe a brembo front brake upgrade with SS lines and an upgraded master cylinder, and track tires.

Then ride it from there and see what's needed. Might tackle the work myself as well, would be a good opportunity to learn how to do those things especially since I'll still be able to commute lol

I would just do tires and fluids for the first day and see what it needs, unless anything is broken.

Been thinking about grabbing one of those CA 320's then saw the P365 was added to the roster. Looking at selling my XD-9 for one or the other.

The R3 would be a great track toy. It looks like it definitely needs some love, but most of what's wrong with it would probably be stripped off for the track anyways like the lights, passenger pegs/seat etc. A new aftermarket exhaust wouldn't cost much for that bike and neither would a set of track bodywork. Depending on how deep you're trying to dive into it, i'd say it's a good starting point. Is the front brake reservoir held on by zip ties?

Lol yeah...the guy he lent it to to learn on has dropped it a couple times, hence the zip ties and fairing damage. Hence why I was considering doing a full front brake overhaul.

Yeah as soon as i saw that p365 added to the roster I pre-ordered immediately. should hopefully be able to start the waiting period this week

I'm old.....Turning 61 later this month. I still love sportbikes but can no longer ride them like I would like. Back in 1997 I rode the Buell in my avatar almost 500 miles one way to go to Laconia Bike Week. Now a bit over 25 years later if I ride that bike 100 miles it better be to a chiropractor.

I’m going to do fluids and fork seals on the Triumph and try it out next year before I decide on if I want to keep it.

has it been giving you issues/reason to not want it? Are the fluids/seals pretty old? Or just time for a refresh?

The seals are leaking (knew that when I bought it), and the fluids are cheap and a peace of mind thing.

I’m just trying to decide between riding the RC 390 on track vs the Daytona.
