The Daytona is a 675 right?

One part of me says keep both because more bikes is always better lol. Another part of me says to use the RC for the track, as it's lighter, and less power, so it will force you to get the skills to ride it vs relying on power to compensate. It'll also be lighter and brake easier I would think.

I want to get more comfortable and used to one bike vs swapping.

Ohlins is top line stuff no doubt but if you're just getting into track days look into Hyperpro suspension. They offer a "streetbox" which gets you a rear shock with correct spring for your weight and a set of matched fork springs for around $700. Would be a huge upgrade over stock without laying out Ohlins level cash right off the bat. Stainless lines and upgraded pads would go a long way before swapping out master cylinders and calipers too.

I used to drag race when I was younger and learned that it's way too easy to spend money and get ahead of yourself. Money saved on unnecessary upgrades means more money to do an extra weekend at the track and increase your abilities first.

I'd really like to do an IBA Saddlesore ride on the Buell. I know years back I could have done it. Issue now is that I just don't trust the bike like I did in the past and now if it breaks something parts are harder to come by. Sadly it still puts a grin on my face when I ride it and the sale value of it is low enough that I might as well just keep the damned thing. I bought it new so 28 years of ownership should mean something.

If you're not experienced or comfortable on the track yet, the 390 is a much better option. Those bikes make great track bikes and they've been cleaning up the lightweight racing class.

Good looking out, I'll definitely look into Hyperpro, certainly not opposed to other more affordable brands if their performance is up to snuff.

Yeah calipers aren't exactly a must for me, I'll have to see just how much work it would take to simply remount the stock one, though i can't imagine much.

I'm using Hyperpro front fork springs in my FJR and I had them in my '07 as well. Friend of mine has the Streetbox kit on his FJR and he's a former road racer so it can't be too bad.

Unsure what you're referring to about remounting stock caliper? R3 is a single caliper front end from stock if I'm not mistaken. Or am I missing something?

Yeah I would agree, 449cc parallel twin would be pretty buzzy at highway speeds

Holding out for the hellcat to be added to the roster, tho the P365 is mmmmmm sexy.

This is true, though the only track day I did I was very comfortable on a borrowed FZ09, which is about the same power level as the Daytona. The Daytona had already been down, so I wouldn’t feel bad about dumping it, and it’s got some good upgrades like suspension and brakes already.

Whoops sorry I meant remounting the stock master cylinder lol. VS upgrading/replacing it.

Can you remount it without zip ties? That might not even pass tech.

i was so frustrated when i started looking for CCW options and realized any modern options are p much excluded from CA lol. thanking my lucky stars the P365 got added, as my top contenders before were gen 3 glocks, or an HK P2000sk

No chance that passes tech. It would have to be properly mounted.

yeah that's why i gotta look and see if it's doable to pass tech inspection. otherwise I might as well just replace/upgrade
