That looks like it was a police model. Box in place of pillion seat and radio antenna. If not it was likely repainted.

Hm...never been there or heard of it lol.

The place I usually go to for BLM land is out by Jamul along the 94. Just a little offshoot from the main highway that can get pretty packed up, and is shut down from about May-November for fire hazard.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Correct. Indeed it is, which I find to be a goldmine! Well they can be, and if you look like me…people most certainly will get out of your way!

Fellow long distance riding friend of mine rides a Concours14 and had a friend of his make him a custom windscreen decal. It's made in reverse so that when seen in your rear view mirror it reads "Slower traffic move right". Combined with his auxiliary lighting you'd swear he's a cop sitting behind you.

A lot of Asian and European countries use the FJR as a police bike. Only a handful in the US.

I truly think it’s the best platform for the road for putting in the miles. Carves up nicely, your back will thank you, feels like a sports bike. Still leaned forward to keep you on the balls of your feet. I have ridden my buddies back when he got it in 2016.

I thought to myself, once I get over my twin and thumper addiction, I will end up with a nicely used priced right FJR.

I do really like the police interceptor look though. It does have a euro vibe.

You should jump on that one while the chance is there then come join one of the FJR forums. They eat miles like a fat kid eats cake.

    Have you ever ridden one?

My first bikes were all sport bikes and fun as hell. As time went on I began riding further distances and began riding to bike events like Laconia Bike Week in NH and suddenly the need to carry my stuff became more important. I test rode the FJR at a factory demo event in Johnstown, PA around 2008 or 2009 and instantly knew I would own one eventually. It checked all the boxes I was interested in. Fast enough to get me in trouble, handled nice, comfortable to ride distances, able to carry everything I'd need for a road trip, easy enough to service at home with decently long service intervals. Got lucky in 2012 when someone traded a FJR towards a new Harley at the dealership I worked for and I was able to pick it up at a bargain price. I've now put about 160k miles on these bikes and have yet to find another bike that even tempts me. They're not perfect at any one thing but are damned good at almost everything short of off road use.

I've actually offered mine to some Harley riding friends to try and almost without exception they turn down the offer, usually because they're afraid they'll like it.

Season is over for me. 30s in the mornings, and maybe 65 in afternoon. But it gets dark by 5:30. Barely any time to ride after work.

I got my new to me pants in yesterday. So glad on the score! Got these in the blue/orange for $200 shipped from a guy on advrider. They fit over my boots (which was my main concern) plus they're waterproof and have armor.

And the new tire will probably go on in April or May. I have probably 1500 left on the Shinko there now, and I have another one with 2k left. Guess ill be getting good at changing tires next year.

no i havent its not my style of bike that i like tbh. i dont like cruisers or styles like that tbh i prefer more upright zippy bikes or dirt setup bikes. im also not someone who would want to ride across the states tbh haha. i like super sports but i just cant see my self riding one (that and ive been told no by almost all my friends lmao) so ill stick with 700cc twins like a mt07 and my singles like the klx. a 3 cylinder like a mt09 has my interest but i have a feeling if i get a faster bike im going to be stupid with it.... dont need that haha

haha same for me man! its pretty rare i get to ride now.... it gets so dark now that i cant really do anything but for maaaybe an hour or so after work and thats unfair to the pup so id rather take her for a walk then go get a ride in.

sick man! always good to find a deal on gear! looks like a good set as well!

i need to get new dirt tires on the klx dirt wheels for next season but ill hold off for a bit since we got a contract negotiation coming up with my work so ill wait to buy things until after thats all said and done

I get that. I'm not a cruiser fan either. I was fortunate enough to have worked for a dealership for quite a few years on a part time basis and that allowed me to ride a wide variety of bikes and borrow them for overnight or even for long weekends from time to time. I could never get comfortable on anything with forward controls or a long wheelbase. Full sized dresser touring bikes are too heavy and don't handle all that well. Never rode dirt and saw a good friend get busted up racing motocross so that never held any appeal. Got into bike primarily as a way to go fast and even at my age still enjoy that rush.
I have friends on MT07 and MT09 models who love them. The FJR just led me down a whole different path of riding and long distance rallying became a fun hobby for me. It's not for everyone that's a given but once I did that first really ling ride and found I could do it.......Now a 200 mile ride just to go for dinner is not out of the question.
