If by scars you mean emotional/psychiatric trauma then yes, I have developed quite a few of those lately

Those and physical scars. got to have back surgery when mine was 2. Lifting him... into the stroller, out of the stroller. Into the truck, out of the truck, into the crib, out of the crib. My back finally gave out and said nope, no more. Dislocated shoulder when he was around 8.
The list goes on and on:annoyed:

We have a baby boy due any day now, I'm sure the physical scars will come with that one lol. With my toddler daughter they're more mental scars

What did Louis CK say in his comedy bit? You can measure the damage boys cause in dollars, like a hurricane or other natural disaster. With girls it's measured in lasting trauma like a generational war or genocide

I have been in handcuffs twice in the last month and half.... why? You might ask? Because I made the wife mad.
I am crazy, but not a lunatic. ;)
Reason I am not sitting in a cell with Bubba..... it's not illegal to make someone mad. Never threatened, got physical, or anything of that nature. My entire street is full of bat shit nuts people. Only one lunatic though, so crazy even his mom moved.
Which reminds me of a comedy bit.

Oh snap, this is a thread?

Memory is slightly fuzzy but I have one. Wasn't my neighbor parse but it was one of his party crashers or friend or something.

I was living in chitown, and we had an apartment above a furniture store. It was actually a group of apartments as walls were shared and all that good stuff.

Got acquainted with my neighbors a bit, as they seemed like a pretty cool couple so my wife (ex now) and I would go over and drink whenever they weren't over at our place drinking with us.

Fast forward a few months and find out they're dysfunctional as fuck so they split up and he ends up at the apartment alone. My wife at the time was going to college, and I was in law enforcement so we had pretty busy lives already going to bed early and waking up early.

One night, my neighbor was having a party but it started extending out to the back shared patio/roof area and it was getting loud. I was getting pissed since our bedroom window faced toward that patio and we couldn't sleep for shit.

I go outside, just in a t shirt and shorts or boxers I forget, and try to look for my neighbor. Several people were already drunk outside and I'm trying to tell them they have to leave.

One dude in particular calls out saying he's a friend, who the fuck am I, just getting belligerent and I told him I live next door and he needs to leave.

That's when he pulls a knife out and I just quickly put him down, holding him in a chokehold. Had to call a 1410 on him and get him booked, but that was difficult enough as I had to state I was law enforcement out loud a few times meanwhile chicks were screaming saying to call the cops and shit.

It was a fucking mess and that's when I found out said neighbor was squatting there too (hadn't paid rent in like 2 months or so already).

So glad I moved out of that god forsaken city; midwest in general just sucks a big fat one.

We lived in an apartment in Houston when we were engaged. Neither set of parents would let us live together (despite us being 23) so we rented TWO apartments next to each other. Cheapest way to keep family peace.

Any way... These apartments were on the edge of Greenspoint (Gunspoint) in 1996. The Azalea Traces Loft Apartments. All one bedroom apartments and the bedroom was a second story loft that over looked the downstairs. As single bedrooms go, it was a pretty cool layout.

But it soon became obvious to us that there was a reason that most of the occupants only needed a one bedroom apartment. They were all on the edge of being committed to the Grippy-Sock Resort.

We only lived there six months and then broke lease. In that time, the ambulance came and carried off a dead resident once every month. Drugs & alcohol mostly. One self inflicted GSW. There were other ambulance trips into the complex for injuries and fights and battery. The residents would routinely have a domestic argument that spilled out into the parking lot leaving a door open. Other residents would loot their house in broad daylight. The Houston Police Department struck a deal to let two officers move in cheap to help quell the number of 911 calls but they never lasted longer than two months. One told us this was the craziest shit he had ever seen and that neither my fiancee (now wife of 27 years) didn't seem to have any obvious mental defects, we should get out before that place had us developing one.

We were able to get a constructive eviction because they couldn't get the German Cockroaches under control in our unit. Turns out a nice lady living three doors down was a trust fund baby but had been excommunicated from her family - so all she had to to was live and collect her hush money to stay away. And all she did was eat and throw the trash on the floor. She had two dogs that had peed in the kitchen so much it curled the linoleum up. She had a parakeet that had shit-cicles hanging off his cage like stalactites eight inches long. The reason the apartment complex was able to go in and discover this was because their records showed the AC filter had not been changed in 3 years. They got there and discovered the filter was totally clogged and the condensation had over flowed into the carpet where house plants had rooted in and were getting nourishment form the wet floors, dog piss and food wrappers. This lady was beyond hoarding and had created her own little Eco-system.

They got a county mental health person out there and quickly determined she was not fit to live on her own. Our building was six units. They were going to have to tent it off and fog the whole thing for two days but they were doing it as an insurance claim for damages from the lady. So it was taking time. They offered to move us into other units so they could empty that one, but the future wife and I said no thanks. We filed for constructive eviction and they let us out. Probably because we were also high maintenance residents having complained about the roaches so much.

That complex is now the 51-Ten Town-homes and it looks like they have cleaned it up a bit. https://www.51tentownhomes.com
When we were there is was all dark wood and walnut left over from the late 1970's. I like it in white like they have painted it now. I wonder if it's still full of bat shit crazy people?

And I thought my first apartment was shitty.

My in-laws from my first marriage tried to pull something similar and tell us where and how to live. I told them we would live wherever they wanted if they paid the difference in rent. Never heard anything else about it and it turned out the biggest threat to me in that neighborhood was their daughter.

Yep. Moved to country. We have animals and unfortunately crap stacked in various places. Drives me nuts, but you can only do so many things. I have most of it in the back yard so out of site for most.

One neighbor, who is living in their barn, came to the fence when we were installing a root cellar. "What are you guys doing?" Big metal culvert is in ground at this point but not buried. "Hi Sir! See, the septic system died and we are installing a new one." My buddy spit out his lunch laughing. Neighbor just walked away.

No Hi - welcome to the area, nothing. just got nosey. I tend to live on sarcasm.

Hahaha - I would think that is funny as shit..

My neighbor has two dobies - the female barks batshit crazy, full tilt, won't stop..
I was outside one evening scoopin dog poop. It was nice n quiet - no one out, peaceful as could be - got back to my yard and was on the last pile. I turned my back to the cul/da/sac and god damnit she let the dobies out - that b*tch starts barking and I jumped out of my fucking pants.. I yelled jeebus, fuck, jeebus fuck, motherfucker, what the fuck Justice [dog's name] - and kept on till I wasn't startled any more.. it took a minute.
This isn't the first time that dog had startled me - but usually i stop after the jeebus, fuck.
Her owners think my reaction is understandable but also funny - which I am fine with.

Not exactly next door but the next street over. A lesbian couple Mary and Lisa (I care less but relevant to the story).... I will preface this with I live in a nice middle class subdivision in the midwest. This is going to sound like I live in the ghettos of Chicago....LOL! God where do I start? A lot going on over there... First time I heard of them one of them Mary was a stripper at the next town over... Well she done got caught prostituting out of the strip club. Not un heard of but unfortunately she knowingly had HIV. Second story I came home from work one day and seen some cop cars by their house. Turns out that she pulled a gun on her partner... so she went away for a bit. Next time was when she actually stabbed her partner... Went away again, bit longer this time. Last story on them... Again I was coming home from work and we had a bunch of cop cars and K9 units in the neighborhood. I got out of my truck and a officer with a K9 came running past and said "get inside asap!" Got inside and my wife was there with our kids and several of the neighborhood kids. I asked what was going on?? So they apparently chased Mary through our back yard and she was hiding in the tall grass field...LOL Come to find out they were selling small arms out of their house (rifles and hand guns). So She went away for about 3 years this time. Crazy thing is, they are still together. Still live over there but have calmed way down. Somehow adopted a few kids and seem somwhat normal now...LOL

    I don't disagree...

My guess is it was a private adoption.

More kids needing adoption than people adopting them has lowered the bar.

My sister looked to adopt at one point and I've worked with a few ladies who adopted. They were telling me it costs about $40k in fees and two years to adopt. That's why so many people go to other countries to adopt. One lady I know went to the Ukraine (1998) and adopted two kids - total cost for all of them to fly over and back and everything was $9k and a lot of it was tax deductible. Only took two weeks.

Why would I want to adopt a US baby for $40k and two years when I could take a two week vacation and write it off my taxes and come home with two kids for 75% less?
Fix that and you will greatly fix our adoption system.
