Fun little loop with my dad. We started off and did tin cup pass and down into the town of Tin Cup then over Cumberland Pass down to the town of Pitkin and with a few dirt roads made it to Old Monarch Pass and back down the pavement home.

Took the dogs out for a run and was able to get a little bit of snow Wheeling done didn't go too far though

 

Lesson learned on this trip is always go prepared. Thank god I always have two gallons of extra gas in the truck even when not expected. I took my little boy out for the first daddy solo camping trip and left mommy and brother at home so I packed everything up the night before to ensure nothing was forgotten. Got up the next day and headed off to Grand Junction without having to stop and do anything. My heart absolutely sank when I got to Grand Junction and realized I had no wallet or cash on me and I had my son in the backseat feeling absolutely stuck. Luckily I had that 2 gallons of gas and was still on a quarter tank and I was able to make it back to NewCastle where my mother-in-law lives where she was able to fill up my tank give me some cash and we were still able to salvage the trip and Camp along the Colorado River.

 

So this just happened. Really excited to get out. Custom made camper from a guy in Colorado Springs. Can sleep 4 with 6 foot beds below sleeping and 6 feet of sleeping up top. Perfect for my short family. More upgrades to come. I still have the trailer set up so best of both worlds. Able to have base camp or just the truck. Super versatile.

 

Update camper working awesome. Just did a week trip without my trailer and just camper. Kids did sleep in a tent and loved it. Wish I had disposable funds to really build it out. I think I got a great plan ahead. The extra room out back makes it so nice.

Under the bed are three tuperwears. Two are dishes and stove. Other one is toilet and all smelly items like bug spray and sun screen. Yeti 65 cooler with dry food storage below in two tuperwears. Flip up table for trail side lunches. Milk crate in back has bread chip storage and below that is a bin with jetboil and French press for trailside coffee. 3 gallon water tank out back with coffee jug with toiletries. Two more water jugs by the cooler and can be moved outside if needed to sleep down stairs. We all pack in north face base camp duffels. Boys sleep in stioc driftwood Two tent. That the set up for camping. Ax and shovel in back. Roof rack tool box has tools straps shackles patch kit. Traction boards. Full set of rci skids and sliders. One 886 and shocks up front with Dakars out back.

Another leaf pack question. The Dakar with add a leaf is not cutting it with the weight. What's is the most heavy duty off the shelf leaf springs. Which ones carry the most weight. DEAVERS?

 

Camper lift broke and also redoing interior. Trying to make this nice but road blocks and getting to the point in the project I want to give up and sell it. Ughhhh

Nice truck. What made you switch campers?

 

Old one was homemade and had too many issues. I was chasing them but got lucky and sold it and bought a new one. So much lighter and better

When I add up all the options, it's pushing 14,000. Definitely adds up. But I'm going to get way more use out of it than my pop-up camper trailer I'm selling.

It was super hard decision. I really like the extra roof height. I got total of 3 just need to ask for it.
