Just enough to look kinda cool.
Idk that the transmission is “serviceable” but maybe a more in depth check/look around and maybe fluids (power steering, coolant, diffs, transfer, engine oil, etc)

Def do the diffs, but the rest I think could be considered somewhat optional. If I remember right, the sample size of TW started having more noticeable transmission hunting, etc after swapping trans fluid than those that just left it alone.

yeah I've been reading a few threads on that with varying opinions/experiences, need to look into it more I guess. Definitely doing the diffs/transfer case and might end up doing it myself, michaels wants $630 plus tax just for those. The more I think about it the more I can't stomach paying someone that much for something I can do but just don't want to.

I'm a big fan of Auburn Offroad for my truck maintenance. You may have to wait a few weeks to get in but they are good and have fair prices imo. Any major services I usually do through them, just did my 60k with them a few months back

if you are deciding to do trans, I could maybe make a deal on fluid. I overbought and I have 4qt of Amsoil. TW PNW Express might even take care of shipping if we get a guy headed up your way.

Posted this over in the Craigslist thread as well, but thought this might broaden my local audience.

Would anyone in the Kent/Renton/Auburn area have a high quality/professional OBD2 tool that could help me out with a P0420 Code? I have tried 4 readers, my own, Autozone's, Advanced Auto Parts, and O'reilley's. They all simply say something to the effect of P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1

Reading on TW, it sounds like a higher end code reader can tell me if it's the Bank 1 Sensor 1 (AFR) or Sensor 2 (O2).

And yes, I originally planned to simply swap sensor 2 from passenger to driver, but the driver side is not wanting to come loose and I'm worried I'll snap it off if I try any harder, lol. So back to looking for a better code reader.

    Thanks a bunch folks!

Front and Rear Locked, 35’s, Chevy 63” swap, Fox Suspension and a bunch of other shit too long to list.
Bank1 sensor 2 is bad or you have a leak or bad cat or pinched wire. You are on the right track. Soak it with Kroil and swap them. Then work from there. Another way to test it is get a 18mm spark plug anti fouler from Oriley’s and drill it out so the end of the sensor fits and install it and see if the light goes away…… forever.

Interesting. Hadn't heard of the anti-fouler thing before. Any idea if their are long term negatives to this? I definitely want to try the penetrant and swapping first, but still curious.

Slowly planning (and saving up) to re-gear my 2nd gen and wondering if there are any differential builders in the Portland area y'all can recommend? Or is East Coast Gear Supply the go-to?

I think there’s a shop in Bend that people were going to. Maybe someone can chime in, or could be found with some searching.

Anyone familiar with the Klamath Falls area know of any dispersed camping in the area? Heading to the Mohave Preserve later this month and looking for a stopping place that isn't too far off of highway 97.

Yeah, I was down there for college. This was before I personally had a truck, so my exploration didn’t get too far (I still did a really good job for owning an Accord!).
The best I can think of is to head out to Topsy campground and try exploring south down there. I remember we one time found a place to pull over and set up a tent. The area was a cliffside overlooking the river.
Of course it could be all different now, that was 20 odd years back.

Thanks for the suggestion Mike. This would be a really good option but it looks like it might already closed for the winter season, according to the BLM website.

I'm back to working as a watchman. 13.5 miles up the mountain. The only good thing about this site is that I am next to a paved road.
Parked in gravel with a little mud pit in front of my truck. Only 2 hours of daylight on a clear day (sucks in winter but would be wonderful in summer). Closest cell signal is 5.5 miles down the mountain, zero at the site. No TV reception even with my new boosted antenna.

Is that just during the work day or also where you are set up after hours?
