Just got home from the dealership. Bought a 2011 Mag Gray
TRD Sport DCSB. Pick it up Tuesday. Sticker was just over $32k. Got it for 28500 (with the college rebate, courtesy of the wifes masters degree). They gave me 15k for my 08 VW GTI which had 44k miles...I see them selling for around that- so I made out good there.

Question...anyone have luck recent getting Toyota to match APRs for financing , they said toyota doesn't do it anymore...I have to finance with them to get the college rebate...rate is around 4.19 or something...local credit unions are doing 2.9.......my sales rep suggested to re-fi with local credit union after purchase...Maybe the finance guy on Tuesday night will hook me up and match.

Now I just have to wait til Tuesday!

Congrats on the new Taco bro! If you got the college rebate, that includes financing too. I will be buying a Taco soon and since I'm graduating from college, I plan on cashing in that rebate. From the numerous financing departments I've spoken with, the rebate should be $1000 off the purchase PLUS 1.9 financing.

Congrats on the truck. Not sure about the financing, but you said you got a Sport short bed? Didn't think the sports came with a short bed option.

Also, if Toyota won't match, why not just go and get the auto loan from the credit union?

-- then i lose out on the 1k college grad, i asked about doing that...

also, toyota is not doing 1.9 with college grad special on Tacoma, they are doing 0% on some models , but nothing on Tacoma which they rarely do.

That's really interesting. Like I said, the two that I have spoken with verbally said that's how the rebate works. I better get this in writing.

I'm guessing they don't match, but if you qualify at the credit union, then I'd just instantly refinance.

Keep in mind, there is a finance charge that you are paying toyota finance for administering the loan (the loan 'application' and other shit). You will pay another finance charge to the credit union when you refinance. depending on the cost of the finance charges, it may be cheaper for you to ditch the college discount and just go with the credit union.

Loan charge at most banks is anywhere from $250 to $500, added into the finance amount(so that they can get interest from it); not sure how much toyota's fees are... Just a little FYI to help you make your decision

very good point...I have thought of ditching the 1k for that reason....I am spending somewhere in the neighborhood of 2500 in interest for the life of the loan at 4.1...where as 2.9 would be around 1800....so it is still worth it to take the rebate at that point..however if the finance charges push it over, it wouldnt be worth it...in my experience I never remember toyota having a "finance charge" when I bought my other Toyotas in the past.....I know I had a credit union charge me $75 recently on a different loan

    Congratulations, btw.

They add the fee into the total amount financed, and the loan officer/finance guy at Toyota may not have been enitirely forthcoming about it in your past experience.

Bank of America charged me $280(i think) fee for my loan.

Actually Dave, I believe that the Off-roads aren't available in the LB.

But the sport comes either way.

And OP, welcome from Ohio and congrats on the new rig...

Gotcha, thanks. For some reason I thought they came only LB.

    Congratulations!

Now, you are in New England. Make an appointment to have that (oil / Carwell, Crown, etc) undercoated A.S.A.P. before the salt hits it.

I did that with my 09' and and annually, and after 3 Western New York winters, have minimal rusting around the rear springs.

    ...and order your Weathertechs...

I definitely did not pay any financing fee when I purchased my Taco and we we purchased my wife's Rav4. Toyota does not charge this fee. It is sometimes charged by your dealership and the fee can vary from $0 to $500 or more. What some slime ball dealerships do is "give you a deal" on the price of your vehicle and then charge back some of your discount with this fee. If they try to charge you this fee, tell them you will try to finance elsewhere unless they drop it.

Grats on the new truck. Too bad you couldn't keep the GTI also!

Congrats on the taco. Yes, I also did not get any rebates on my 07 taco. But its the sport package TRD and it has the short bed.
