I still have buds and green ones too, don't think they will make it to maturity though. For some reason this bush seems to produce late, last year a bunch of berries didn't make it either before the cold moved in.

If you have fruit trees, now is the time to put in the fertilizer spikes. Trees will store nutrients in roots over fall and winter and will put them into buds and fruit next year.

Picked about the last of the veggies in my garden this morning. Jalapeño peppers were fiery red, and hot as all hell but with a nice sweet flavor once you got past the burn. Still producing tomatoes. My corn was done weeks ago. Be frost here any week now.

Working on a greenhouse for next season! My wife has started to show some interest in gardening and veggies. We had this awful sloped slab of concrete off the back of our garage that served no purpose and really was a risk since it had a steep drop off. Leveled the pad by building a wooden deck and now framing out and putting a roof on. Fun project overall!

    Getting figs ready for winter.

We had a couple nights of decent freezing so they are hardened a bit. Reason why the leaves look toast now.

Pruned all the low bushy branches as I want tree like growth if possible. Weeded, hand tilled, scratched in more lime.

covered all lower parts with straw. I have some tree blankets for below 25°F or so. Still no figs this year!!

    Love my sauce maker.
Got 3 bowels of sauce out of a case of apples. Used 2 bowls to make 6 quarts of spiced applesauce (3 cups of sugar to 24 cups of puree, plus lemon juice, cinnamon and cardamon, gave away my familu recepe :)).
Put a third of puree away to make apple butter tomorrow. Should get 5 to 6 pints, depending on how much it cooks down.

Sampled the leftover applesauce with cinnamon twist pastry for dinner. It came out good.
Should have canned 2 cases. Kids will eat tbis in no time.

I would have rinsed that thing off right out of the dirt and ate it. I see no reason why you wouldn't eat that thing.
