Sorry but a handful of us have been around here for a long time. Seen every question from silly, dumb, serious, technical, or the same question asked for the 100th time. I feel like 2-3years ago the mods or trolls would make fake accounts and ask the stupidest questions or make the dumbest posts on fridays to make for some entertainment. No offense. But yeah if you’re serious about trying to do doughnuts outside camp in the dirt. You don’t need any modifications or need to change tires or anything like that. Bone stock should be able to break them loose and get you spinning. That said, if serious and having to ask this question, my other response is legit. You probably have limited wheel time and the 4runner is more top heavy than Tacoma so take it easy and warm up to it so you don’t end up on your side. Again, no offense.

I’m off next week so perhaps we can make something happen! I’ve never been to JV, which is dumb. Since I live here

It’ll be fun. This is our pre-koh fun trip. After this it’s 2 months of prep before the race

Nobody in this community is saying don’t have a good time. You just need to be respectful to others when doing so. The industry has attracted many idiots that give us all a bad name. Don't be that guy.

For example, when you do donuts, make sure you’re not going to dust out the camp next to you. Drive fast, but don't be reckless. Consider the other people in the area that are also trying to have a good time.

To answer your question, no. I don’t think you’ll need to swap out your tires. You’re going to struggle more with being “one tire fire” (open diff) than anything else. Doing donuts is too easy with a locker.

Excuse me for making a flip comment about donuts. My buddy is the experienced one, and I'll be close with him.

I appreciate your responses about all my tire questions too. Sometimes I have trouble finding the answers.

I just read about a recall on toyo atiii, Made in Serbia 05C, search the web for a recall. Of course I have these tires. I appreciate the info tacomaworld. edit. My tires are not recalled.

All the more reason to shred them !
Keep the spare handy to swap in if they puncture or shred due to the recall (I don’t know what the recall is for)

Do/will Fox shims work in King shocks? I know the valve charts will be different and such but by measurements are the shims interchangeable. I'm a Fox guy and all the cars & trucks I work on are Fox. But just in case a King shows up for rebuild/revalve. I have boxes of Fox shims.

Fox and king shock shins are different. The race car runs fox and all my stuff is king/ads and can confirm the id is different

Anyone in areas with salted winter roads and running Heimed Outer Tie Rod ends? OR muddy conditions wheeling? How's the wear and tear on those? I need to replace my Outers and am considering it for the small upcharge but worried about them getting full of crap and failing faster than an OEM joint.

How are these holding up? Are they trapping anything in the joint?

2 years later and my steering heims are about the only thing that don’t need to be replaced.

Sweet. Now to find a set I don't need to weld to make work. PRG won't answer phone calls and their site won't take online orders....
I'd do JD's kit, but I need something I can put on now, not weld on when I can get to it. Guess I might have to just grab some OEMs for now and order the kit for later...

who makes sleeves/couplings for hiemed tie rods ends? I ordered PRG kit and got the kit real quick. I changed my plans and asked to exchange them. Greg said no problem send them back and I'll get them out the next day—3 weeks later and 0 response from him I'm looking at other options. I have the heims a parts to hook up but I need a coupling.

Don’t heim unless you’re going to double shear. So if you can’t do the double shear now just get some oe replacement

Anyone know if the 4th Gen 4Runner A750f transmission is pinned different than the A750f in the 2nd Gen taco? Highly contemplating rebuilding a 2uz 4.7L out of the tundra/gx470/4Runner. Cheaper than adding a SC to the 4.0 and has way more torque potential. By the time I finish rebuilding it and ready to swap I’ll either be out of state or trailering this thing (as far as smog is concerned). Just gotta figure what ECU I wanna use.

Edit: I’m trying to keep my transmission, and not do an AWD swap. As long as the output shafts are the same for the transfer, it shouldn’t matter. Gx and T4R have the A750f as well I believe.
