Have you thought about getting a fit done? We just had a customer roll through our shop who had some sort of leg surgery and can't properly bike for the next few years (I'm going surgery's/healing). Got them a fit and ended up getting them on a totally different size bike to accommodate their needs. This is obviously a pretty big contrast but that being said, it could improve your indoor training/recovery and prepare you for next season!

My fit is good actually. I can't RIDE it. I can spend all day in the trainer.
I'm waiting the hear the extent of the surgery. Basically, bunch of tendons, need to relieve a nerve, and might (hopefully not) have to mess with the bicep. I'm likely going to be in a ROM brace for heavy activities... and work(if I stay in a van, which h
Docs and wife say NO, LOL). My RT elbow is FUBAR.

I was just looking for a road bike, as I have my F/S in the trainer, and that isn't ideal.
If my Salsa was 1x11, I'd have that in there and be happy.
Just a crap situation for now.
I'm hoping to be back in the dirt by spring:fingerscrossed:.

Thanks, and it is a good suggestion. And I may have to anyway when this is all done.

Probably not super helpful but check out SQ Labs. I've got arthritis in my wrists and I was able to get my PCP to write a script for new handlebars. SQ focuses not on marketing but actually designing MTB/generic bike stuff for people not for pros. May not help your situation but ya never know! Hope the recoveries quick man!

    Thanks for all.
And SQ labs looks to be an interesting option should I need to go down that road, thanks.

Anyone need some on bike storage? I have two of these lezyne flow storage cages. I would be happy to trade you the bottle cage and co2 chuck for a standard bottle cage like their flow cage or a set of GA3 grips or something else bike related, or $10 bucks or whatever.

I nearly always end up biking with a pack so these haven't been used in a bit. I have the cages and their Co2 chucks, multi tools are out and about somewhere but I would likely keep those anyway unless someone really wanted the fully loaded cage I can put it back together.

    T
hey are an absurd 65$ loaded and the cage itself is $20 but has two spots for CO2 on the side with straps, bottom holds a multi tool, co2 chuck, tubeless bacon.

Happy to hear all the positives.

I think I'm leaning towards a Strife instead of a Union for out back.. idk why, but i just feel it might be needed for the rocks around here since theyre very unforgiving and so is my riding. I have an insert already and plan to run an exo+ to DD type casing tire for the rear. Plus only 12grams heavier than my current alloy wheel so i wont notice the weight I don't think. Price is the same for both...

    Opinions?

    not enough.
unions have been fine for me, granted. I'm a lighter rider doing more enduro riding than hardcore downhilling. But i have yet to damage or untrue the unions. Strife would be nice to feel the difference but, i personally haven't seen the need to go over unions. most of my riding is in alpine or race conditions so, lightness. occasional riding in the desert which the unions do just fine. strife might be better at the rocks but it's not something i encounter on the reg.

I beat the living hell out of my wheels and never broke a carbon hoop. I'm 155, regularly take stupid lines through chunky rocks, and run 22F/25R psi on DD tires.
Been on NOX, Unions, and Zipp Motos. If you're running the appropriate casing (DD or equal) and pressure, you'll be happy with the Convergence rims. They're supposedly stronger than the Unions, and better compliance. Which, if you're regularly riding rocks, would help. Plus, with their warranty, why not?
That's my take anyway. If I were looking at hoops right now, they'd be Convergence on the rear, with Zipp Moto3 on the front.

I agree with @abacall and @ginseng27. There's really no reason to go with the Strife for strength unless you're using the bike exclusively for park laps or racing DH. I'm >200lbs kitted up and also ride fast over rocky terrain (southern Utah is not easy on bikes). If money were no object then I'd also go with the WAO Convergence or Zipp Moto3. It actually looks like the Convergence is on sale for $1200 right now?!?!?! Do that!!!

If you wanna save a little but get a great carbon wheel then get the Unions.

Edit: I also have some friends on Reserve wheels who are >200lbs and ride like hell. I think those are a bit spendier though.

yeah...my axle hasn't broken but i9 does have a new axle design available. i have also seen bearings on i9 hubs go bad pretty quickly. keep the i9 clean! had to replace my bearings at least once vs never on my dt swisses.

i'm of the opinion that the hydra is great but not somethign most people need, let alone on a longer travel bike. it's great for short travel or hardtails, IMO.

Hi Guys! It's been awhile. I spent the majority of my summer on a gravel bike trying to rehab my left wrist and right thumb (2 separate, old injuries that came back to life). I saw this Transition video/ad and didn't even pause...just clicked buy. I've been collecting parts for the last few weeks. Hopefully I'll have this thing built by the New Year. (And yes, I cut the logo out of the frame box to hang up in the basement!)

I feel your (wrist) pain! I'm actually looking forward to fat bike season this year. Just bouncing around in the snow. Good luck with your wrist rehab!!

Put all the gravel bikes away for the season. Been riding mountain bikes for the last month. Looking forward to riding in snow.

Yo what's up sorry for the super late reply. I've been traveling a whole bunch and just started a fun new career adventure thus I haven't been online at all. Not sure if I told everyone but fun fact, I sold Knoxville Outdoor Tours to Sean Leader about a year ago and at the time it seemed to make total sense in his portfolio. But I talked to him a few weeks ago and he mentioned how he's eager to double-down on professional trail building now so he's liquidating some other ventures (including Windrock and Knoxville Outdoor Tours). But we all know the untapped potential of that terrain and I expect/hope Gwin to invest the much-needed dollars in that place, I'm excited to see it truly maximized and hopefully executed at a high level.

This. I have so many customers on I9 who come in with blown bearings. They also use annoying specific bearings compared to DT. For most New England riders I usually recommend a bearing set every year or two with regular riding.

Local Specialized warehouse had a sale yesterday. Picked up some Roval Traverse alloy wheels with DT Swiss 350 hubs. Just over $600 OTD

It was a one day in shop sale. All bikes, parts etc 25% off and anything already on sale from Specialized was another 10% off. Some door busters too like a stack of tires for $20 each.
