I own a 2005 Tacoma prerunner 2wd. I went to the dealer for a new output shaft seal. The dealership gave me part number 90311-40001 however after reading online it was updated to 90311-40034 and then again to 90311-A0031. When checking the parts websites it says that the 2005 isn’t compatible with the new 90311-A0031. Does anyone know the right part number for my 2005 Tacoma? I’d like to get the updated seal to avoid future leaks if possible.

From searching the forums it appears that someone with a 2007 was able to use 90311-A0031. Would it be different from my 2005?

I bet it will work just fine.
Toyota did this with the axle seal on the 2014-2015 trucks too.
I think they just forget to incorporate all makes and models some times?

If anyone knows, It's @Jeff Lange

90311-40001 is for 2005 to 2007 (up to Jun, 2006)
90311-40032 is for 2007 (from Jun, 2006) to 2011 (up to Jan, 2011) and is replaced by 90311-40035
90311-40035 is for 2011 (from Jan, 2011) to 2015 and is replaced by 90311-40048

90311-40034 and 90311-A0031 are for automatic transmissions.

90311-40001 is correct for your truck, 90311-40048 would also work and also comes pre-lubricated.
