^It remains to be seen if they'll drive the fan clutch from the water pump pulley, or if they'll change to an electric fan.

The 5VZ's fan clutch is attached to a grooved pulley on a separate bracket, driven by the serpentine belt:

Not seeing any mounting holes, electric maybe?

Just replaced the one on my 1G, it wasn’t cheap.

It will likely be an electric fan. I believe the new Tundra did away with the mechanical fan.

^The Tundra has the mechanical clutch fan, plus two electric pusher fans mounted in front of the condenser (and inverter cooler on hybrid models).
Electric would be a likely deduction. Electric fan tends to shatter when the fan blades hit water, so it will need an off switch on the dash for deeper water crossings. Another "day 1" mod like the diff breather relocation...

Yeah that fan clutch support bracket is twice as costly as the water pump itself

    Good to know thanks.

Apparently it is a mechanical fan with an e-controlled clutch.

Yeah that whole assembly wasn’t cheap, $1600 at the dealer. Had a new engine installed this past summer. The fan was considered an accessory, apparently they missed that bearing was going out.

Engine has a 3 year/100K warranty on it, so I wasn’t touching it. Kinda nice not wrenching anymore. Used to but so over it. Now I pay someone else to do it.

Good info and seems very legit. Having worked for Ford our system was identical when new vehicles would release. Sounds like Toyota is really holding its cards close with regard to pricing and mpg (which the later probably come from EPA not Toyota holding up).

    @3JOH22A

That engine install was $15K. When I put an engine in my ‘85 4Runner it cost me $1500, of course a used junkyard engine and I did it.

Can only imagine what a new engine for an out of warranty for the 4G cost, reliability concerns aren’t unfounded. The 5VZ did go 435K, so not terrible, guessing the turbo four is a 250K mile engine. Toyotas diesels went from a 500K mile service interval to 250K because of the emissions equipment. Gasser turbo might be even less.

In every discussion/thread there is always a variable S/N ratio. We kinda not have had any signal lately.

I can’t stand content creators, can’t stand them. Give me the real shit straight from Toyota. Everything else is click bait. Maybe we shouldn’t be allowed to post anything until we get it straight from the horse’s mouth??? :)

Here mostly to watch @Turd Ferguson and @It’s a TRD Thang fight like an old married couple. Makes the work day go faster…. Lol!

You, me and Ozzie & Harriet have over 2k combined posts in this thread lol. If we waited for official Toyota info, we'd have a lot more free time.

And this thread would have like 4 posts.

lol! Imagine if we actually worked harder than goofing around with this nonsense. But that taint no fun!

Would love to see the builder up so I can compared prices with a Tundra. Fairly certain the Tundra is the better buy, and pretty sure the 4G isn’t up to snuff for the camp trailer I want to pull, even with the new engine. Pretty sad the hybrid has all the torques and the tow rating goes down 500 lbs. Which tells me it is just for show bros and not really for doing work. (How’s that for being somewhat on topic? :))

Local dealer says they have pricing on the gas (non MAX) versions and are now able to take orders.

    Working on getting said pricing.

They will not be marking up / "market adjusting".

I think the distributors and *possibly* even some deliveries might beat the embargo.

The hybrids 326 hp can only be produced for approx. 90 secs before depleting battery. After that it is dead weight. I-FORCE MAX has a nice ring to it though!

Any dealer saying they take orders I just ignore. We all know Toyota doesn’t do that.

    48hp is roughy 36kW.

    The battery is 1.84kwh.

    1.84/36= .05.

.05x60 = 3.1 minutes. When was the last time you floored your truck at max power RPM for 3 full minutes without coming off the floor at all?

i drive a 155hp Tacoma and even towing my camp trailer with a dirt bike in the back through western states, I’ve literally never done so.
