It shouldn't even be a manslaughter charge though is my point, not all accidental deaths result in manslaughter charges and neither should this imo. They're basically saying he fucked up and needs to pay, not to the extent as if he meant to do it but he could still do time for it (at least based on US manslaughter charges) and that's fucked imo.

I had heard he had a history of pulling that move sans the fatal results in the past. Those charges make me think there's some truth to that.

Yeah I don't know anything about the player prior to this, but that would be a weird thing to have a record of doing (getting hit and kicking your legs up) but I guess if he does, then it would lend credence to what we're seeing unfold. Whole thing is just wildly tragic for everyone directly involved

I don't know the player either but if you're going to bring charges, you have to provide evidence that the action was negligent and intentional right? Maybe it's all just for PR purposes and the charges drop, bit idk, for them to bring charges says they think there's something there.

At the same time, what about a fearless nascar driver that causes a crash that kills a driver? Will they be liable for such a charge?

In this context if a nascar driver had a habit of giving other cars a pit maneuver into the wall intentionally, well that starts to turn the scales in my book.

It's a slippery slope when we start to bring charges to those that participate in known dangerous sports. It's part of the thrill of those sports and they aren't ignorant to the risks. Tragedies can't be undone by punishment, it doesn't replace the loss. It's a mess, it's ugly, it will be interesting what comes of this.

Yeah true it does make one wonder what they found in the investigation that we the public aren't privy to.

The nuance to this kind of determination must be so unique to each case, like if one of us had an LBJ failure that caused a fatality you would assume that would be written off as a tragic accident, but what if the investigation dove into their TW posts and found that they actively documented having 300k miles on sloppy joints and bragged about not wanting to do anything about it? With enough public outcry and pressure you could probably make a manslaughter case out of that, I wouldn't be surprised anyway.

On a lighter note, Sofia is in a big scared-of-the-dark phase suddenly which is probably tied to a normal sleep regression phase that accompanied the big change of no longer being an only child.

So we read that giving them their own flashlight to keep by their bed helps, and it has for the last few nights. But tonight she fell asleep with it still on and it's literally on hey pillow pointed right at her face. I have this dilemma where I don't know if I should go in and likely wake her up to turn it off, or do I just let it be....

Mostly I'm impressed she could fall asleep like that

I think your Toyota example is a bit too in the weeds my friend. Same principle but not quite the same. If they had a history of letting them fail and cause crashes then maybe.

It'll be interesting to say the least how it impacts sports moving forward.

Released in 1996...huh, surprised I don't remember this one. I was 10 or 11 then so might have been out of my view

One of my all time favs as a kid. I have ways to make it run on Android or just regular modern PC or Mac if you want it, I have all the others made by that company too. They're simple point and click adventure games but they're entertaining. Fun fact the voice actor for pajama Sam is also the voice actor for Bobby Hill.

@cynicalrider I saw your thread on the Potts Mountain trail. Great photos! I was thinking of doing the Bald Hill trail nearby on our ay back - would you say it's doable in my truck solo? some of the bogholes look pretty deep, so I wouldn;t wanna flood my engine.

It’s in Virginia. I think it’s still open until January.
