That i dumped tons of $$$$ into it and its still not done.
I got rid of my money pit (evo 8) to get my tacoma, so i can have something and enjoy it without modding the fffffff out of it.
    Well "enjoying" costs $$$$. lol.
I got the offraoding "bug" and love it.

Oh yeah, i also hate that i didnt get the long bed. I guess that one is my fault.

Yeah that mirror on windshield placement is very dangerous. I have the ‘12 and wonder if it’s the same with other years. I did see a retrofit kit for it that raises it for around $50. Might do that as there have been a few times I haven’t seen a vehicle to my right at a four way stop or merges, or pedestrians.

This is my first new (2021) pickup in 37 years...my first was an 84 Toyota ExTra cab, 4x4 which was $7,200 off the lot...that was a shitload of money for me back then!
For someone like me - a simple man of simple ways - this truck is a pretty amazing machine.
Yeah, I know I'm the odd man out in this discussion as I don't have a long list (or any list really) of things to bitch about so I just wanted to stop in and say I'm pretty darn happy with my red 2021 AC 4x4.
Generally, I don't complain about much anyway...oh sure I've got a few things I could howl about but at this stage of the game I'm pretty happy & thankful about most stuff and this Tacoma is the nicest thing I own.
Hope everyone gets theirs's sorted out to their liking and have many happy miles and adventures ahead.
Now me and Tucker, the big brown dog, have a 2nd cutting of hay to cut & rake today and hopefully get bailed later this week...after that we'll hop in the truck, head to town to check the mail and get Tucker an ice-cream at the Casey's store...he's a soft serve vanilla kind of guy.
You folks take care and enjoy your truck, they're pretty cool if you think about it and you're lucky to be able to have one.
    Happy Motorin'

Well said. It’s nice to hear some positivity. I realize that this thread is about what you dislike about your Taco but the amount of whining here just gets a bit much.

I hate that they put 3.5 V6 and abandoned original 4.0L V6. Other than I am like 4-5 months owner for this Truck so can't say what else. Oh and the plastic " chrome " bumper on rear.. I thought it was real chrome until I accidently hit my leg to it and realized it was plastic.

First of all I would like to just agree with @BumfukKansas! Too much complaining you're not gonna like everything that these manufactures do to bring some of the most advanced vehicles we've ever had while trying to please everyone's list of you should have do this or fixed that trust me I have few things i'm not happy with but I look at what i have and know i own a pretty awesome trucking over the years i've owned some deathtraps that I was luck to make it home. Sometimes you just have too take the good with the bad, enjoy what you have! So i'm gonna get my dog and go for an adventure or get an ice cream! Cheers!

I wish an oversized fuel tank was an option. My van has a 35 gallon tank, so even at 14mpg I’m not always stopping for gas.

The plastic instrument cluster shield that scratches if you look at it sideways and sucks in dust and pollen behind it.

The droning sound the four-cylinder engine makes when you put it on “ECT power.”

Before all the BS environmental regulations, the scepter water tanks were totally my go to.

Now you have a bunch of cheap shit knockoffs on Amazon.

It’s absolutely perfect. If it was anywhere under $1k I would probably have one.

A couple of gripes with the 3rd Gen:
    • I wish there was more room to play around with in the engine bay! Everything is fairly tight. At the time I installed my air compressor I installed it right over the fuse box because that was the most obvious location and I didn't find any aftermarket mounts that went anywhere else.
    • Seat height adjustment - I wish there was a way to adjust the seat up or down. Seems crazy to offer seat heaters before that.
And that's it. I would give them a 97/100

The three things I found disappointing on my truck were the small ass cup holders, that there was no gas cap holder and that there wasn’t a way to pre-program the driver seat settings.
All of these were standard on my wife’s RAV4 which cost half what my truck did! Seems a bit silly if you ask me.

The center cup holders sizes are definitely a downgrade for me compared to what my 2013 had - I used them for much more than drinking cups! I didn't have power seats before, but also agree any vehicle with power should also have memory standard.

The stock radio / audio sucks. It sounds fairly bad for any modern vehicle. My huge gripe with it (I had a thread a while back...), I use a USB music stick most of the time and it can't sync up enough to be able to search it. The funny thing is I discovered that if the truck is off / only in acc mode, I can fiddle with the search a bunch of times and sometimes it gets to operating normal search functions on the USB. But not always, then pretty much never if the truck is running. So this thing's SW changes its behavior at points. It also takes time at each startup to get into the music. None of this was ever an issue on the 2013 - instant on and search lists always worked.

Oil filter change more PITA than a simple spin on filter - top facing spin on was awesome.
No zerks on the driveshaft any more.

On the plus side, it's nice having a newer tight vehicle again for a little while before all the garbage salt winters start destroying it...

Agree with cup holder complaints. Nothing really fits.
