A little something every chance we get.
It helps when you only have a general plan.... then there's no "mistakes"

So, I have this shelf outside where recycling tubs live, and the sun eats and rots the plastic tops. And then the tubs fill with water - when it rains... I had some old tin ceiling pieces I had screwed to the fence as a pitiful critter deterrent - to keep them from a head start on jumping the fence. Meh!

    20231117_104028.jpg

This will be the biggest of the covers, and none will lilkely be the same. But first, I need a slope face for mounting. Run it through the saw, and see if I guestimated correctly.

    20231117_123339.jpg

Need a frame to connect to it!

    20231117_122321.jpg

Alright. And my "drop down legs" plan doesn't fit between the tubs. Hmmm.

    20231117_125124.jpg

OK, I will just make some braces that hold the angle.

    20231117_132023.jpg

That works. Time for the "roof"; this stuff used to be fiberglass and stiff. It's now plastic, and floppy. When I brought it home, I just pulled over and let folks pass, because it seemed to scare the crap out of them!

    20231117_132240.jpg

What finally worked best cutting this stuff, was a fine blade on a sabre saw. Lay it on top, and figure it out.

    20231117_141424.jpg

And the easiest way to trim a better edge was to saw upside down, when it's fastened!

    20231117_145000.jpg

Now it doesn't / shouldn't need to get up out of the way very often, so I did a little hook and chain. There is a block behind the fence for the hook. Both sides. It's light to flip up and hold while securing - no problem.

    20231117_153216.jpg
    20231117_153258.jpg

    And there we go.

    20231117_153328.jpg

Others will be a similar concept, but not as long, or as hard (likely!). Here I thought I'd get it all done today. I have another lid or two, but in use. They are cheap at WalMart, so I will replace, or see what shows up.

Good stuff there bucktales! :hungry:
Pa. archery ended today, no deer! I had only one chance at a buck, and it looks like we need to go out with the rifle and  that we even see a buck! Then there's flintlock and late archery where we can only hope to even see a deer, the days of 7 of us shooting 7 buck in two days are over!!!! :(

This is only the second time in the 4+ years I've been on meds I've done that...

Take your pills when it's time!!! Keep them with you so you can't say "I'll take them when I get up". Keep them in your pocket or on top of your cup. Have a second alarm set for a few minutes after the first one....

In the middle of the last century there was a comedian named Mort Saul, anyone remember him? He used to close his act with a question, "Is there anyone here that I have not offended?". We all laughed but that was then.

    Evening all:

Well, at least something went right, SO FAR!

Was reading about how to remove the limbs on the crossbow in order to bolt the new ones on, it is recommended that blue Locktite be used on the bolts and that you might have a problem trying to remove those bolts and risk stripping the Allen heads on them or rounding off the end of the Allen wrench and some even suggested using heat to free them up if they are that tight. :annoyed:

That didn't happen, the bolts came out fairly easy and I didn't notice any Locktite residue on the bolts, When I bolt the new limbs on there will be some type of thread locker on those bolts, any suggestions other than blue Locktite. I see they now have an orange Locktite that sounds like it would fit the bill, also Vibra-Tite and rubber cement were also suggested, I want to use something that will hold, but also be removable using normal hand tools.

Blue Loctite is the stuff that allows loosening with regular tools. Red Loctite is the nasty stuff. I don’t know anything about Orange Loctite.

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!!

I've been out of the country for two weeks enjoying the warm weather on the beach in Antigua!

My uncle passed away several weeks before we left - he had dementia and was in a care facility. My Aunt was in and out of the hospital and rehab for months before he died and was in rehab when he passed. I've been helping her and him for a year and was buried trying to get all the details in place before going on vacation. Back into the craziness tomorrow...but it sure was nice just to disconnect for a few weeks.

    Hope everyone is well!
