Sorry for your loss Mark. I hope your vacation was restful.

Good morning. Off to the gym then back home to straighten up the house after the carpet cleaning. Most of the Thanksgiving cleaning will be done today. We have a memorial zoom service at 2 for my mext door neighbor that passed a few weeks back. Cooking pork steaks and a chicken on the smoker today.

    Morning all:

Sorry to hear about your uncle Mark.

Orange is new and supposedly 3X as strong as blue and will work even after removing a bolt and reinstalling it and is removable using hand tools. ??? I definitely won't use red on any of the crossbow bolts, and it's interesting searching forums as for what to use, quite a few recommendations for Vibra-Tite which I never heard of and would probably need to mail order it. I use the blue Loctite on most projects, maybe will just stick with that and use it sparingly.

Blue loctite is the appropriate thread locker for this application. Red is generally for larger diameter fasteners with higher torque values that absolutely must stay together. Red loctite requires heat to release, you must burn it out in order to loosen the fastener.
Biggest mistake most people make is using too much loctite. Assuming your fastener is roughly 1/4 - 3/8" you only need a drop or two. Apply it on the second thread not right at the end. This will keep that starting thread clean and maybe save you from crossthreading the bolt.

Good morning or as we say in Southern California, Buenos Dias. LOL
A sunny Thanksgiving is once again predicted with temps in the mid-70s here in San Diego County.
We used to be hush hush about good weather here to stem the flow of people into California from the East. No longer! The flow of people have been leaving California!
So, with a clear sky, the nights get really cold (well cold for us), into the 40s, yikes!
Now at 66, cold = pain... Anyone else?
I also have been dealing with intense sciatica pain for nearly all of 2023... Four procedures, two didn't help and the most recent was last week... fingers crossed!
    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Grey day and it may spit on us. Think I'm rolling the pots into the greenhouse before a cold front; it's almost Thanksgiving, so they should be in there - because the weather is always so consistent and predicatable!

Welcome back @Devious6 , and sorry about your uncle. Glad you enjoyed your trip otherwise.

I finally got some time to work on the ariens snow blower again, time for engine work now.
Need to pull the throttle plate to get to the carburator.
    20231118_142924.jpg
    Now to pull the carb.
    20231118_143603.jpg
Notic the crud in the old hard fuel line.
    20231118_144056.jpg
Oooh Shiney! New carb on with a new gasket.
    20231118_145016.jpg
New fuel line and clamp is routed behind the flywheel. Ring gear on the flywheel looks good.
    20231118_150837.jpg
Left the fuel line long to trim to length after the tank is back on.
    20231118_150856.jpg
hard to see but the fuel line is behind a clip that holds it away from the flywheel.
    20231118_150903.jpg
primer line is wrong, need to pick some up.
    20231118_150937.jpg
aAnd the starter pully is cracked in 2 places. New old stock one off eBay is on order.
    20231118_150955.jpg

My bad, the orange is made by Permatex not Loctite, looking at too many thread locker products!

    Happy thanksgiving!
I've been dealing with that sciatica pain in last couple years, every morning woke up walking with slanted back gingerly. I guess that's what called being aged.

I've used the red loctite 271 on a lot of mining equipment applications over the years. My big complaint with them (Loctite) has been that they don't give you any idea of what the installation friction modifier is. My mentors always said to use the "dry torque" specs.

As mentioned previous, heat is the best release agent and when we've needed to be gentle about it, an electric heat gun is the weapon of choice. The magic melt temp is 400ºF - so it is often possible to get things free without too much damage of the surroundings.

I don't think I have ever had worse pain... mine was level 9 and taking Norco was the only relief to the burning pain in my hip and right leg. Fortunately, I have good docs and great insurance. It has been four days and (so far) the pain is way down, only requiring Naproxen.
I hope you can get some relief... Heat seems to work, but you can only sit in a Jacuzzi hot tub for so long, right?!!

It's been about 15 or 20 years since my L4 L5 disc finally gave out. Had back pain for years and when the disc finally bulged out it shut my left leg off, I was dragging a club foot. What wasn't completely numb was excruciating pain! I took Norcross like candy for months before I could have th surgery to fix it, a microdiscectomy. It was amazing! When I woke up from the surgery I could feel my leg! And 30 years of back pain went away. The only bad thing is I was addicted to the norcos, I went through a 3 day withdrawal that was absolutely horrible. It made me understand why people are drug addicts. So it's been many years and L4 L5 is still good, everything above it is a mess, lol. I just chalk it up to age now, mid back and neck issues, but I can walk again.
It's kind of wierd but truck driving is a great job for me once I get the seat dialed in. It's standing and walking long distances that cause me grief. I had a great surgeon and that meant a lot, he fixed me.

:amen:. To find a great surgeon for what you need is a tough one sometimes.
I 've been thinking quite some time about operation. But I've seen people I know didn't quite get the results they expected that makes me think twice of the decision I have to make.

Part of that may be because they didnt give themselves time to heal. I remember. Y instructions, no bending, or twisting and not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk, which I couldn't do. And walk, nothing else, just walk, it took months. But I took it easy and did what the doc said and because of that I healed and it was a success.

Spinal surgery sometimes is like a miracle, sometimes doesn’t make for much improvement and sometimes (small percentage) makes things worse. Back surgery is an individual decision and should be the last resort. The problem with surgery is that if it doesn't work it can’t be reversed. I do know lots of people in which surgery alleviated their pain completely, changed their lives for the good completely. I suggest if considering surgery get a second medical opinion.
And before surgery see a pain management specialist. They have a whole bag of tricks that often produce miracles.
I have back pain that limits me a little but am fortunate as I can successfully treat it with physical therapy, back exercises, Tylenol and occasional Celebrex (a non narcotic prescription). My wife also has back pain , has seen a pain specialist who after various treatments directed her to try acupuncture. For her acupuncture has made a huge improvement.
