The 3UR was the other option. It’s just more expensive and I would have to get lucky and find a good deal on a wrecked 2nd Gen. tundra. Some of the prices I’ve seen on it are approaching crate engine territory. The appeal of the 2uz to me is dropping it in to the Tacoma and not having to modify the driveline much further.

Yeah 6-8psi of boost was the eventual plan  I’d rather take my time and supercharge something a higher ceiling than the 1GR.

Supercharger on the 1gr and keeping it smog legal is my 2 cents. Unless you know the right people, finding a dirty smog guy just puts you around some real losers.

In a year or so I’m going to have to get up to speed with the standalone crowd when I get my rig running.

Feel free to hit up my first gen haltech thread. Getting a 5vz to its full potential is becoming a regular task around that place :)

Yeah I was also planning not to be in CA afterwards :anonymous:

Yeah I’m aware. Check the comments in that video, 16k is more than I would want to spend on the 1GR platform. Can buy an LS3 for less than that.

yea why not a 1uz? Probably the most aftermarket support of any big toyota engine and you could get an entire running and driving LS400 for the cost of just an engine out of another toyota truck/suv that's been wrecked already

The 1uz has a nice pedigree for sure. The twin turbo one toyota put in the MC8 shows what the platform is capable of. However I don’t think it’s worth the time converting my truck to the 4-speed A340F. The 2UZ looks like it will drop in with the A750F, I would just need a custom oil pan to clear the front diff.

I prefer a sooner bump so the frame or slider ain’t on the ground at any point. Keeps a higher break over angle as well. This is about the stock bump location, another buddy has probably 4” more uptravel and it drove like a Honda getting stuck on speed bumps

And people wonder why it takes me so long to work on my truck… setting up for a new haltech engine harness over my old psiconversions… putting the harness thru deutsch bulkhead connectors and setting it up how I like takes a lot of time…

This was from an old tundra thread comparing mcneil, adv and fiberwerx fiberglass.

is there any truth to this? I see a lot of people switch to 4” glass and sometimes the fenders swallow up the old bumpers but sometimes they look like they fit pretty well. I could never figure out the correlation until seeing this

this is my ADV 4” glass with an oem front bumper. The bumper has no fender flare piece on it, like this:

Thanks. I was interpreting that as aftermarket bumpers idk.
these were on instagram the old bumper seems to fit pretty good with both oe and 4” McNeil i think it is.
but ive seen a bunch where similar looking bumpers stick way underneath certain glass. But maybe just didn’t have as much of a horn sticking out
