certain model years had weaker frame perch. If you’re are intact that’s better than one that’s had them punched through by stock mounts

Mine's a 2014 Access Cab. Frame perch totally normal / intact / no rust or other damage. Appreciate your further comment if you know about 2014 AC's specifically. If my model year is on the weaker side I'd probably buy the perch plates & keep them around until some future time when I might need or want to pull the engine for other reasons.

This guy's comment has almost tipped my balance toward clicking that "Place Order" button on the Solid Offroad website.

Recently upgraded my 2014 AC from a slopped-out, very tired stock suspension to a full FOX 2.5 + DSC / Accutune UCAs / Deavers setup and appreciate it every time I get in the truck. The heim joints on those UCAs definitely increased NVH just a little bit (maybe 10%) but I don't mind at all, it makes me feel more "connected to the road."

If a motor mount upgrade is something I'll be able to feel & notice during daily driving as well as the "lite off-road" situations I put my truck through now and then I'll probably do it.

    upgraded mounts may prevent failure.
    I don’t have reinforcements.
I think any issues like that were early years 05-07 similar to HG leaks.

there’s few makers of it. Take your pick.

I personally would not be dropping coin on 2.5’s before replacing stock garbage mounts.
I felt the improvement and still do.
Am interested in keeping the truck and it not breaking. Not selling it tomorrow.
I do offroad sometimes and don’t need the motor flopping around like a bag of potatoes thrown off a balcony.
Or have it flopping around messing with shifts and wasting my upgraded clutch.

there’s some funny builds out there.
Top tier suspension on untouched tiny lower LCA mounts and stock drivetrain mounts.
My stock mounts made a loud knock every time I hit the brakes and knew it’s a matter of time before significant costly damage or failure on a trail.
I’d rather have power transfer to the wheels, not be wasted flopping stock mounts.

you can also buy stock mounts, build a jig, and weld your own if you have a welder, then post a DIY and let us know how much it cost (probably a lot) assuming you have the experience to make a quality weld with structural integrity.

I've got a decent Ar/CO2 MIG rig I'm pretty competent with, but no plasma cutter & less time. I could see myself welding up a rear bumper but for something as critical as motor mounts I think I'll go with a tested, proven product. Encouraged to see that OP has been making & selling these for upwards of 2 decades now.

exactly. If you have a trades job skill your time is worth $50+/hr.
And these probably take at least multiple hours.
    DIY isn’t always worth it

Throw it on the credit card, pay it off over 6 months haha. Its pocket change in the long run compared to what happens when you have a failure. Plus the performance aspect alone is worth it.

Any year truck can have frame/perch issues. I have 3rd gen guys messaging me weekly sending pics of their engines out on a hoist because their OE mounts failed and crushed the frame perches.

One dude with a 2nd Gen had his fail, and the motor move around soo much that it pulled the upper radiator hose off the radiator bung, cracking the bung in the process and leaking out all his coolant and frying his engine. $4000 later...

Most fab shops charge $125/hr. Pretty wild, but most oil change shops still charge $75/hr.

It's on my list for when I go MT and reinforce my coil buckets. Probably will so the transmission mounts, too.

    OP,
Do you by chance do custom motor mounts? I’m having an LS Swap done and the gentleman doing the swap doesn’t have a welder strong enough to penetrate the 1/4” plate so he paid someone else to weld them. I don’t care for the design. When I get the truck back can I send you the mounts to redo or I can drive over to Havasu. I’m guessing sometime in October…

Thats going to be an awesome swap, when all said and done you will be stoked.

I haven't made conversion kits yet for a few reasons, 1 being because the demand is soo low. For every LS swap , I sell 200 OE bolt on kits.

With custom swaps there are a lot of variables to consider such as engine placement/4wd/2wd/transmission configuration/oil pan configurations/etc. It would be almost impossible to offer a LS conversion mount that would align in the right position and have the correct clearance for all swaps across the board (I know that there are companies that do sell these, but I don't believe in them haha)

Having personally swapped multiple LS motors, Ford 302 motors, and Tundra 4.7 motors into V6 Toyota frames, its more complicated than it sounds on paper and we ended up making custom mounts per each vehicle depending on the customers requirements and chassis configurations.

Jigging up a set of mounts, building the jig, designing the individual pieces, making templates, transferring those to actual steel(hand plasma cut), building a mock up set, making changes, re-doing parts, getting all the dimensions correct and then sending those to the laser cutter to measure, draw, and program, 17 emails and phone calls later haha is about a 2-3 week process that costs me around $3k in time and programming fees. This is why I have to really know that a new product is going to be a big seller before I commit.

DM me a pic of the conversion mounts, and I'll be able to tell you what kind of price you are looking for a one-off custom job to re-do them.

Oh and not sure yet about the 2.7 mounts. I may be venturing into that because of a new vendor I may be working with that wants to sell those aka giving me guaranteed business.

Now I’m not by any means an expert on LS swaps but the mounts that I will have done “Should” fit all 4x2’s because I don’t see why not. We are using a Holley 302-1 pan and this pan clears the longest stroke of over 4” LS engines and we have an inch of clearance under the pan. Now for 4x4’s I have no idea. But I have looked over Chris / @tacotunner06 truck and we both agreed that any one of the 3 Holley pans would clear my setup. Me personally I would want a pan with more capacity on a 4x4 being they could bounce around a lot more. My little lightly lowered fairly light weight 5 lug will not be going off road. Just teasing a Mustang or two every now and then. But it’s your business, you know how to run it and lastly I want to say thank you for your honesty in your response.

If there is enough interest, I will do a group buy for a "black friday" type deal. This would apply to 4.0V6 motor mount kits. If you want a different vehicle specific kit, we can work a comparable price out.

Minimum 5 kits sold, and I will do the same discount as has been done before, zero price increases.

$375 per kit if 5 people commit.
$325 per kit if 10 people commit.

    Plus $20 shipping.

Bulk sales (GB) allows me to buy in bulk from my suppliers and therefore I can lower the prices for you guys.

What's the consensus on installing these? Transmission mount under the oil pan sufficient or do you need an engine hoist? Is the front diff in the way and does it need to be removed or simply lowed a little?

Ive personally never used a lift to install them, and only used a motor hoist to lift the engine up a few inches to gain some clearance. But the floor jack under the drivetrain method works fine, done it a dozen times. I would believe thats the majority of what everyone else does as well.

Thanks for the reply. By drivetain do you mean around the bell housing, or something else?
