Figured out the software issue (wasn't doing the immobilizer resync) and truck is up and running again. I know I'm late to the party, but this thing is pretty fun! Can't wait to open it up on the freeway. I am smelling a slight burnt rubber smell from the engine bay, but it's hard to localize. Any idea what to check into? I'm not seeing any rubbing at idle.

If you used WD-40 or any sort of lubricating/ penetrating oil you are going to have weird smells for a while until it dissipates.

Outside of that, if that is not the case check your drive belts and make sure they are running off the pullies because if they do they can emit a burnt rubber smell.

Belts look good although I am now reading that burning coolant also smells like rubber. I had some splash around due to originally missing one hose clamp. Maybe that just needs to fully cook off (I haven't driven far yet).

When I did my daring alternator change in the dark with a flashlight this week, I pulled off what I found out to be a coolant hose and it's dropped out a bit after loosening the hose clamp. It did indeed smell like rubber, although that was Tuesday and it's already long gone now.

So since i dont have the factory harness for the coolant pump, i found a connector on an old harness in my shop (bosch style that fits pump). Which way does coolant need to flow? Does it really matter? Pump can run either direction based on polarity.

That is why I always splash the general area with water prior to starting it and while it is running as well to ensure that all the coolant comes off and it is pure water that needs to just dry up.

What type of hose are people running from the boost reference point? I just measured the barb at 1/4" although most of the boost gauges use 1/8". Any measurement effect from reducing it down?

I just went through this and in a pinch I bought some adapters at AutoZone to connect it I have since bought the correct vacuum heat protected zone

Also I just replaced my shitty oreillys alternator that keeps dying, with a Toyota 130 amp upgrade, and man I feel like all my problems are going away with the truck.

Hell I hit WOT getting on the freeway and was just going by sound and I looked down and some my needle allegedly at 90 and panicked lol with my tires and gears that's a bit more and I don't think I've ever gone that fast in the truck before lol
