Ha, there is probably a chance I met you there. I don’t always make a lasting impression. I go and talk to the students once or twice a year, around 2020 I would have talked about an intro to the FAA and maybe the dirty dozen. I had one or two more that I’ve used but think they were before 2020.

Good morning Delaware, Tri-State Area, Eric & Connor.

Sounds like you two crossed paths back in 2020.

Connor, we briefly discussed your career field back in May at Crabby Dicks; you are very passionate about your specialty.

Eric, it's awesome that you provide guidance in this field of study.

There's more leaves on the ground as I look outside our windows while drinking my coffee--I may just put my hand to a rake today! lol

I think I found the best tv streaming service; I'll be watching football soon but have chores to do until then.

I paid my landscaping guy to do my leaves a couple weeks ago. His guys came out with one of those mini flatbed dump truck landscaping truck things and filled up the entire bed. Then last week I did a bunch of raking and filled 5 Home Depot bags full of leaves. Just looked out the window and it looks like I haven’t picked up the leaves at all this year.

    :annoyed:

Good morning Ed, and neighbors. I also got a few chores to do this morning. Mine are cleaning and storing the deck furniture.

I took down the trampoline the other day.

Morning Ed, taking my truck in for the 30k service but really only have them do the oil change. My dealer offers free lifetime oil changes!

Not sure if I’ll do the diffs yet since I don’t drive often severe driving or a lot of dirt and dusty roads. All the torque checks are easily done as well.

Good morning Eric, Delaware & the Tri-State Area.

That's cool about the oil changes...glad you trust the dealership too!

I've established a great rapport with the dealership in Dover.

The only maintenance I do is the oil changes since I have access to the Auto Hobby Shop on Dover AFB.

Have a great "short week" everyone. Hopefully, you'all are able to take time off to spend with family & friends.

    Morning DE,

got the oil changed yesterday and they didn’t try and sell me on anything other than a tire rotation. I didn’t have them do that since I think I’m going to put the OEM wheels and tires on for winter. I’m not sure how well the ST Maxx will handle this year with how low the tread is in 2 of the tires.

but then again, I might be too lazy for that

    Gmorning Eric...and Delaware/Tri-State Area.

Interesting that you let the dealership do oil change but not tire rotation--I'm the opposite.

I do oil changes on Dover AFB Auto Hobby Shop; $8/hr stall and I buy my own oil & filter.

The Service Rep suggested Tire Rotation & Diagnostics/Fluid Checks-Refill for $20 since I do my own oil changes.

I'm happy with that idea for the time being.

With my tires already buggered up, I’m keeping the lower tread on the fronts so, swapping side to side and not front to back. This time I plan on putting the oem wheels and tires back on in the coming weeks.

I don’t trust that “all fluids” is really all fluids. I’ve always been curious if they’d leave out the transmission, diffs and transfer case. I would think so.

The fluids check is just the engine bay, I believe.

Unless the transmission/differential/transfer case have the mileage to check, those aren't checked until the mileage requires it.

speaking of which, according to @Soft Taco ’s maintenance map i should have done the diff 10k ago, not sure if it’s a big deal or not. i mean i wanted to myself but i’ve heard of people stripping off (either the drain or the fill i can’t remember) plugs and i don’t really want to get charged an arm and a leg from a dealer just for that if it really isn’t that bad

I think the map is great but a little misleading. People like changing fluids more than required. The diffs are 30k if severe driving, lots of off roading, towing, etc. otherwise I don’t think they have a replacement interval, same with the transmission. Now I could be completely wrong but don’t remember seeing it last I time I looked in the manual.

people strip them both I think but always make sure the full plug comes out before the drain lol.
People by the Lexus plugs that have bolt heads and not Allen head.

By no means is it a huge deal to be late on a diff by 10k. Toyota says 30k for normal and every 15k for severe intervals such as frequent towing etc. If I were you I would slide under your truck and refresh the fluids sooner then later but you are not in danger. Hell, most owners don't know what is under their trucks let alone follow the mileage guidelines established by Toyota and just get to them when they think about it one day. It is the 5mm allen key drain plug that is notoriously difficult to break free sometimes. This is due to the questionably high torque number of 48 ft lbs toyota applies to that little nut. I replaced both drain and fill with that improved standard plug from lexus I cover in the video etc. No more allen to strip and weld a nut to just to remove.

The basic owner's manual is missing a lot of this info. You have to crawl through miles of service bulletins to get many of the numbers, unfortunately. With that said, if it has a fluid it has an interval. Time and miles are the bane of everything.

    Well, it's past morning time!

I put turkey in at 9:12am and forgot to baste it/distracted with other things...used one of those baking pans made for large poultry with lid.

Wife was simply in shock (that's what I'll call it) because I wrote down the time I put turkey in the oven on sticky and put it on the micro.

She asked "what time I put the turkey in"...even though she was the one who told me to sticky the time on the micro.

We've never had our turkey ready this early so this is definitely "out of the ordinary" for us.

So that's what I've boiled down her shock reaction to the whole scenario.

She's got so many things running through her mind right now...being early with a fully-cooked turkey wasn't on her agenda. lol
