    Still figuring it out…
I have a 2014 and mine makes the purge noise when I shut it off, didn’t know about this but will be checking my filter and looking into replacing it if need be.

Just did this to my 2014 OR....foam was in great shape still. But has been stated by others, the very simple Uni mod gives a bit of piece of mind.

Hey guys, just a heads up on the secondary air pump/smog pump. My truck threw me a P2445 code last year (secondary air pump failure). It put my truck in MAJOR limp mode. I disconnected bat, I removed it, cleaned the connectors, bought that little filter and put it back on. 2 days later it came back on. For months I would have to disconnect the battery every 2 days to reset the computer so I can drive normally. I finally bought the OEM part from Toyota. Worked great for about a week and then the code again!!!

Long story short, after I cleaned my throttle body & I never got the code again. So if you’re having any issues with that code or the pump, try cleaning your TB & MAF sensor. The carbon build up can be as thin as a piece of hair and that’s enough to throw codes.

So I have an 2011 and it's over 180,000 and just started with the codes. When I took it to an auto tech buddy, he said it's an expensive fix, but won't hurt it to run it as is for a bit since we're in FL. After reading a lot of threads, I don't trust leaving it. Can anyone link me an article or better yet, a video of how to check it and/or replace/modify it?

Secondary Air Injection System Bypass Kit
@TruSouthernStyle87 Our recommended solution is the Gen 2 Bypass Kit. It is our most comprehensive bypass kit that will address both mechanical and electrical SAIS fault codes. The only codes it would not address is any related to damaged pressures sensor. If you had a damaged pressure sensor then a kit addon would be required. If you provide us with the current codes we can more confidently recommend if an addon would be needed. That said, if your pressure sensor, factory wiring and ECM are all in good working condition all you should need the Gen 2 Bypass Kit.

    Gen 2 $450

    - Our Gen II kit emulates the operation of the SAIS and ECM reads as Ready/Completed. It also eliminates all trouble codes dealing with the SAIS with the exception of the pressure sensor. Installs at the Air Injection Driver and Air Switching Valves.

+ Covers both mechanical and Electrical SAIS error codes
+ Compatible with Toyota's current ECM Computer flash
+ Compatible with Flex Fuel Modes
    + Clears permanent codes

    Kit Addon
    Pressure Sensor Replacement Single $225

It is also important to note that our Bypass Kits are engineered to work with Factory/OEM components. If the Air Switching Valves have ever been replaced with aftermarket parts this could cause the need to purchase Pressure Sensor Addons in addition to the Bypass Kit.

Please do not hesitate to give us a call if you need any further clarification (844) 307 - 7671. Below I have also some additional Blogs about the SAIS system.

I could be missing something but If it's the secondary air pump than Toyota will fix it for free.

@Extra Hard Taco There was an extended warranty campaign for select vehicles that will cover the SAIS. However, that was also limited on year and mileage. However, if this Tacoma still cover under warranty I absolutely encourage having Toyota make the repair. When the issue occurs again in the future keep the Bypass Kit in mind.

I'm not 100% sure if there was a expiration date set by Toyota for the repair, but I want to say that there wasn't. When I get home I will take a look at the paperwork Toyota originally mailed me 2-3 years notifying me about the TSB and see if there is an expiration date for it.

Ok, so I've looked at the paperwork Toyota mailed me several years ago notifying 2012 owners of the issue with the secondary pump, it states that they will replace the pump in the event of a failure 10 years from the date of first use regardless of milage. The date of first use means from the date the truck was manufactured.

@Extra Hard Taco Thanks for following up with that information. Does that only cover the Air Pump or the Air Switching Valves as well?
