A little backlogged on my additions to the thread, but better late than never. Recently(ish) visited the Dawson Forest WMA, was a great time! Surprised how well the 2wd handled it all!

What is the preferred color for ditch (windshield) lights - clear or amber?

I am running amber fog lights.

    How bout both? o_O

I have clear Cali Raised (chinese knockoffs) and snapped some Rigid amber covers on them. Then you can go back to white if you want it. FWIW, I don't see where ditch lights are of much use in any color :anonymous:

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
They are perfect for spotting deer just off the side of the road. I use mine every morning and evening. They most certainly help out as the I can catch the reflection in there eyes quick.

I should have clarified, they're not all that useful *in comparison to other solutions*. They definitely put out more light, no doubt about it.

I used to be of that mindset - still am to a certain degree.

But, I have been in situations where they were actually really nice to have.

I think mine are brighter than most…that could makes a difference. I use them daily just as I do my overly bright fog lights.

Quality of light (having BD over cheap crap) most definitely makes a huge difference. Angle of the light matters too. Most point their ditch lights straight over the hood instead of off the side. Most of that light hits the hood and does more bad than good. Thats why I like either really low (bumper) or really high (roof rack) mounted solutions.

My fogs are BD - really bright! I'm going to get BD ditch lights as well.

If I am adding lights, I plan on being able to see, so they better be bright!

I think ditch likes should be marketed as deer lights. I have never used mine to look down into a rut when I was off-roading, only throw them on at dawn or dusk.

I also like that they are angled enough to give me time to turn them off when on coming traffic is present.

My light bars are so bright the at they really aren’t a good option unless your in an area you know you won’t bright someone. The roads are so curvy and think with trees, it’s hard to see people coming most of the time.

I will say that when I flip my lights on i instantly see 20+ deer at any given time. It’s crazy how fast people drive up here, which is also reflects the amount of front end damage people have.

I will take some pics of my use and you will quickly see that my ditch lights are the most effective when it comes the terrain I am in.

I spot black bear clinging to trees as I drive down the mtn pass to the main road. My cousin hit a cub up here when we were younger…that was sad. They scream like little kids.
