It's different than what I would really want, but I think it's gonna grow on me

I suppose we could go without the Doctor?

Since the Doctor has been scheduled for surgery this weekend, I propose going to Flagpole without him to break things. His presence will be missed, but the show must continue! If a potential thing-breaker would like to submit a time and location for us to gather before said breaking of things, that would be glorious. A gas station with all the fixins' would be ideal. And keep in mind that some of us are a few hours away. With that, I leave you fine fellows to determine the solution to these variables. Good luck.

So I bought what I thought were decent walkie talkies but I was disappointed with their performance this past weekend at flag pole. Is there anything out there comparable in performance to the Baofeng that doesn't require a degree in astro-physics to program? I'm going to return the walkies and am reluctantly coming to the conclusion I'm going to need to buy another Baofeng and spend 30 minutes on YouTube University with a steady stream of f-bombs figuring out how to program it like the first one.

Wish I could go with you all, but son #2 is flying in tomorrow for the weekend and mama bear would not be happy if I hijacked him for the day. And no, bringing her along is not an option.

I haven't sat down with the information you posted yet. But if I figure it out, I expect to be awarded an honorary degree.

I've had a bunch of handhelds and unless you have good line of sight, they're not so great. Have you considered a hard mount radio? Like something from Midland or others? They're a huge step up in usability.

I do plan to also buy a hard mount for the Land Cruiser, but would like to have a handheld for each vehicle for when I'm feeling frisky and want to "help" spot others i.e. blind leading the blind.

I'm not familiar enough with the area to be the plan maker, but I'll show up wherever!

You guys should meet at the Sheetz on E Market St in Harrisonburg. It's right off I-81 and from there, you just head west on Rt 33 to go to the trail. It's Chris' favorite place to meet.

Bao Feng with the bigger antenna. My best suggestion.

I'm not either. I'm not good with the trail either. We need a leader! But Mark's location will work for me.

I'm fine with 9am. But it needs to be more than just the two of us. Or we'll end up camping on the trail because we're lost.
