They are on "sale" right now. I'd be curious to see if the sales change in the next week.

But you also have a bumper to purchase. :pumpkin:

Looks like the Traverse are on sale, not the Controls. Looks for weight weenie wheel deals

And yes, I have a bumper to purchase. Insurance payout wasn’t grandiuous, but was enough to cover a bumper. Trying to put that little bit left over towards truck mods. Debating if it’s worth bumping up to OEM LED headlights, or forking out a little extra jingle and getting the 60k+ mile suspension a refresh.

As someone who works in a shop. Be ready for sales to start this weekend at most local shops. Specialized/Trek are about to do a BF sale that any Trek/Specialized shop will match (we always just do the same sale they do). Can't speak for if those wheels will be on sale but all the companies have wayyyy to much of the nice products leftover from COVID and want them gone.

First time at raccoon mountain. High voltage looks like an absolutely awesome downhill trail. Too bad I went the wrong way and had to climb it. Do all your homework when following routes on trail forks.

Got the fat bike and my boys’ bikes all cleaned off today. Been wiping them down with silicone spray to keep them cleaner between washes.

So I was a deliberately secretive with this post but things have been set in motion and this is confirmed. I’m going to be selling my Stumpjumper Evo Carbon S3. It was a frame up build. I’ll be swapping some parts off the stumpy to the new bike, but that means the stumpy is getting some with new wheels, drivetrain, dropper and cockpit. If you are interested, let me know. I’ll swap the parts over and get it listed formally but reach out in the mean time if one of you think it’s what you’re looking for. Bikes in perfect condition, been ride wrapped since day 1. It’s too much bike for it to be my every day weapon of choice.

Now for the fun part, what I’m replacing it with. I picked up a Fezzari Delano. Smaller travel, still carbon, great warranty and much better suited to what I ride most often. Pics coming, should be here in a week or so. :woot:

yeah. that sounds about right. i'm having to replace mine every year it seems. bearings aren't cheap but they're still cheaper than a new hub.

wait...i see a shrink in the photo...do you not????

This may sound like an obvious question, but what tips you off to needing to replace the bearings? I think mine in the torch hub are getting worn because they don's seem to spin with minimal resistance when on the bike, but I am planning on regreasing everything to see if that helps.

multiple things COULD happen but I notice it mostly off of bearing play. Take the axle or the cassette and try moving it. the ONLY direction it should ever move is the natural cassette direction. if it moves left/right or up/down/forward/backward in any way, there is bearing play and the bearings need replacement.
if you take the endcaps/cassette/freehub off and see the grease is looking...brown/excessively black, then yeah...probably needs replacement. the bearings got dry and starting shaving off metal inside itself. this will eventually lead to bearing play.

you can also take the freehub/endcaps off and try moving the inner part of the bearing forwards and backwards, it should spin fairly freely. if you feel some sort of grittiness or any kind of friction, yeah, the bearing needs replacement.

last time, i took my i9 apart, and the drive side bearing was definitely shot but the brake side was perfectly fine. so, replaced one bearing.

sometimes you'll see some weird shifting issues from bearing problems but it's sometimes subtle and if it's gotten bad enough for shifting issues, your bearings are SUPER SUPER shot.

throw lots of grease on the non drive side, and keep it tight. on the drive side, throw in the proper oil/grease but expect to grease/oil it often. the seal isn't great between freehub body and the the hub so water can get in fairly easily on the hydra's.

    side note........

does anyone have the latest generation rockshox forks? those black rubber caps...apparently they're only for shipping. which makes me nervous about dirt getting into the valve. anyone know of any cover of some sort? i asked rockshox and they said they don't sell the caps aftermarket.
