You 100% will have more storage.

One of the main attractive features on flatbeds, for me, is a rear drawer. Great place to store various pieces of gear, tools, etc.

This is a good day for updates, I'll share mine.

Came back home from work to the roof deck and rafters painted flat black for project: garage. Pictures don't do it justice - stoked that I went with black. Walls and heat going in on Friday.

Sweet! It's like spraying on that black woolwax for the first time.

So explain the black to me. Is that going to remain open or will you have sheetrock on the ceiling?

So, I am planning to just spray all that raw metal with woolwax or fluid film or what ever. Black. What does this group think is best or advise for the bare metal?

Was wondering the same, wouldn't white be more reflective?

I would sand, then prime, then paint bedliner.

This is the kit I got last year, just hook up to a compressor.
woolwax Lanolin Vehicle undercoating kit (4) Quarts w/PRO GUN & (2) extension wands. BLACK color https://a.co/d/5nFPDtS

I know Fluid Film is sold in aerosol cans, but I'm not sure about WoolWax.

Black is black because it absorbs all colors of the spectrum. White is white because it reflects all the colors of the spectrum.
Yes, white will be more reflective. Black will deaden your light and change the color of the things at ground level due to said absorbtion.
Will definitely make it hotter up there too.
Was just trying to understand the method behind the madness. lol

The ceiling cavity will remain open.

I wanted to go with flat black paint mostly as a style choice. The end goal for my garage is a combination of a functional shop with a showroom feel; a place to work in, but also one you want to spend time in. It also makes the room feel larger than it is.

Would white be more reflective? Sure, and I considered doing that. But, the lighting I have and the light gray walls going in will supplement everything nicely.

Edit: if I end up not liking it for whatever reason, I can always change the paint color.

Oh there will be some mods all right
So, I understand completely if you're set on black, but I found on bare/raw metal this stuff is magical.
    https://www.walmart.com/ip/CRC-0602...nline&wl12=19866157_1330&veh=sem&gad_source=1

When I had my Tundra I bought a bare aluminum RCI skid plate. I put two coats of that stuff on and it held up to all the off-road driving I did including lots of rubbing up against tall grass as well as surviving a winter and the coating is still holding up well now that the skid plate is on my dad's Tundra.

    Thanks for the reasoning.
I appreciate an organized work area.
