A few additions to make me feel cool.
One of the best things I have seen in a while. A few years ago when the Tesla SUV first came out. I was picking my daughter up from daycare and some fake trophy wife pulled up in one and parked right in front in a handicap spot. She had her crazy batwing side door up and just set waiting for her kid I assume. Meanwhile this dad walks out with his maybe 5 year old son. Little dudes sporting jean shorts with cowboy boots and a bitching mullet, sunglasses and a muscle shirt. Walks by the woman sitting in her car and cool as can be says "hey, lady. Looks like your door is broke". And just kept on stepping. I want to be like that little dude!

Reliability...is key and the Tacoma has that in spades.... Having checked out few friends Tesla Model 3 build quality, I don't know how well the Cybertruck will hold up especially you want to take it overloading or off-road.

I doubt it, first off electric trucks just can't tow without having to stop every 60 to 90 miles to recharge for an hour and then you only get an 80% charge so your mileage just went down. Further would you really want to travel in an electric vehicle and have to spend up to an hour recharging your battery and that is only if there is a working fast charger available. In a gas truck you pull into a gas station and in 10 minutes you are back on the road.

I have zero interest in electric vehicles, add in the fact the electric grid would crash if everyone had to own an electric vehicle the power required to charge an entire nations electric vehicles would not end well.

I will stick with internal combustion engines, they burn so clean today there is no need to push them any further.

I drive by the new Tesla plant daily in Texas...passed one today....paper plates and assumed it was being test driven as they pulled on the Tesla road to go back to factory.

I don't think so, definitely different customers. I feel like the cybertruck will be bought by way different customers than a tacoma. (At least from what I've seen in Maine)

I'll say this, if that abomination doesn't quietly get killed by 2025 along with the careers of at least two executives, then it's confirmation that we are on an alternate evil timeline; somewhere someone missed the decision that would have kept us in the good universe.

I think the people who buy Rivians will likely get cybertrucks. I don't see it impacting Tacoma sales though.

I'd take a rivian any day before a Tesla cyber truck, mostly because I think Musk is an ass but secondly because the cybertruck is butt ugly and from what I've seen it sucks for offroad.

Someone needs to put this thread out of its misery. Dead and buried and then pulled back out of the grave.

Idk seems like a good time. Cybertruck deliveries start in about a week (FINALLY). I certainly don’t think that it will take any of the Tacoma market share but I wouldn’t mind replacing my Model Y with one. They look ridiculous, but…. That’s half the fun!

Looking forward to seeing these on the road. I look to the streets for novelty. The other ones have bland styling to me.

Cars and trucks need to meet some type of minimal pedestrian safety requirements, how does something which is essentially a rolling dissector get certified?

If you hit somebody with that thing, you are literally going to gut them wide-open. It will be a fucking horror show.

I think you’re spot on. Whomever is buying a Tesla Cybertruck likely isn’t buying for the same traits/values as most daily truck drivers. They also are top of the list and put reservation money down years before they knew what they were getting in looks/quality/price… etc.

There is a risk profile in someone who buys like that vs someone who buys a trusted Tacoma.
