Applied for a job there today
Would be a crazy cool opportunity but
Obviously a new place for me

 

If you like flat, brown, impoverished, and lacking anything resembling modern society, Pahrump should be at the top of your list.

Wtf job did you apply for? Crushing babies heads with lithium to make star batteries or something? There's no industry there.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, I suppose. Would I move half way across the country for that opportunity? No. If you want out of your current situation bad enough, might be worth the risk. And at least the cost of living is relatively cheap there.

 

For lack of a better way to put it
I don’t have a good way of explaining that isn’t just some modified form of complaining but
I put all my efforts into a power plant job
Studied for it
Went through all the interviews
Kept getting told the position was coming
And it didn’t pan out in the end
I was applying for a ton of other random crap in the meantime
Hilton customer service
Chewy chat support
Home Depot customer service person thing
Lowes
Ect

I legit don’t even get a call back from the “entry level” jobs
And all the chat related jobs have been a bust so far too

I’m tired of being poor and going paycheck to paycheck and I’m tired of getting denied for jobs

So anything interesting now, I apply for

 

Not that it's gonna make you feel better, but the job market is absolutely fucked right now despite what the .gov is publishing month over month.

I'm a career sales guy who works in the industrial space. I have a some friends who work in SAAS sales and they're getting laid off in droves right now. In my field, If you're in industrial tech, you're getting dumped. The only ones of us doing well are those of us who sell products and labor, not business solutions.

Problem is, by the time companies are laying off the sales force, they're already lagging in sales and trying to figure out a way to catch up. This never made any sense to me, because the people selling shit are the ones bringing revenue into the company. But what do I know, I've only been doing this for 20 years.

 

So if there was any form of advice other than to maintain applying for all the things
What else works?

 

If I had an answer for that, I'd let you know. It's, in a word, shitty right now. This is what Jpow and the fed wanted. They jacked interest rates to "calm" employment to "lower" prices, and every month they're up in front of the podium saying it's not enough, we need more people unemployed. And then the CPI comes out and there's apparently a billion more jobs. Sure there are, if you want to work for $10/hr minding a retail store.

Look for work in the trades (plumbing/electrical) if you're physically fit enough to do it.
