Thawing the duck in a brine. Nobody else in the house eats poultry so I have been doing duck for myself for a number of years now. Have the cranberry sauce made too.

Had to take the 'senior' cat in for a check-up. Cat HATES going to the vet as you can see in his face

In mid-2022, my wife, her parents and brother and I had decided it was time to flee the political and financial insanity of California, and we decided on southeastern Kentucky. My in-laws moved first. They chose PODS. I didn't know they had chosen PODS until after they already had their "pods" at their house in CA. I relayed the above story to them, and urged them to make absolutely certain the PODS people would, in fact, deliver their 2 pods to their new house in KY. Well.... when they called PODS, ,they were told the same thing I was - nope, we don't deliver. Fast forward about 6 weeks. My in-laws arrived in KY. After 3 weeks, they called the PODS people to ask where their pods were. "Oh, they are still in Sacramento. We only ship them out once we have a full load for the truck, so we are waiting until we get another POD going to Lexington, KY". Then, after their pods did finally arrive in Lexington - 90 miles from their new house, they then had to arrange for a local moving company to go all the way up to Lexington, to the PODS storage facility, and get their stuff on their own.

So, if a person was thinking of using PODS to move, I would highly recommend they demand in writing from PODS, that they will deliver to the requested end location, and not just to their own closest storage facility. Otherwise, do NOT go with PODS.

My wife and I managed to fit our stuff into a 20' U-Haul truck and moved ourselves to KY.

That makes no sense. What is the value of the pod? They will deliver it to your house, unless it comes from somewhere else?

I used them for an on-site storage option when I had new floors laid in my house in WA. That worked out okay.

I looked into using PODS to move to TN, the cost was considerably higher than it was for me to rent a truck and move myself. I'm glad I didn't make that mistake...

Happy Thanksgiving. We have so many things to be thankful for. While this year is different for sure. We will spend a few hours with our youngest son and his wife at the in laws. Our daughter is working. Our son by choice and his wife are tending to the twins who were born 8 weeks early and are still in NICU, and our oldest son’s deployment was extended so he will be serving his country from his new AOR in the Middle East.
