I have to run to a meeting right now, but yeah I'm happy to elaborate. So I will get back to this thread later. Or you can always PM me and I'll respond. In particular, I'm interested in what you mean by it's driving you "even crazier".

Ok, sounds good. I enjoy talking to people about what they believe.

When I said college is kinda making me even crazier, I guess I just meant that I am so disgusted with the ideaologies my professors have been teaching, that I have been able to strengthen what I believe in. I do this through discussing those ideaologies with the professor and my classmates. A lot of people see me as "crazy" (Lost_Humanity, for example) even though I can prove what I believe to be accurate and logical. That's all I was talking about. While normal college students seem to adapt their worldview to what they're taught (by sometimes biased professors), I have gone in the opposite direction....

I don't recall saying you were crazy.

Personally, I think your worldview is pretty short-sighted (based on the sample size of this quoted paragraph). Rejecting things because you think that the source of information is biased is akin to walking through life with blinders on.

I think FOX News is biased, but I still listen to (some of) the things they say because if it is interesting or informative, I can still learn something from it.

Rejecting ideas and information just because you don't like the messenger is not a particularly efficient way of decision-making and growing.

Actually, I feel exactly the opposite.

If I go through life being a good person without the fear/love of God, then I am a good person without bias or prejudice. I am a good person because I chose to be that way, not because a person/being/entity/social environment/talking dog, etc. told me to be that way.

To me, that is infinitely more fulfilling than striving to please someone/something who may or may not acknowledge my life.

I have to think that when I die, God or no, I'll be pretty happy with who I was in life.

How can you make this assumption? What isn't accurate/logical about Christianity?

You are very right, I apologize for saying that. You didn't say I'm crazy at all. (I think I was actually the one who mentioned it... hmmm:rolleyes:)

My worldview is short sighted though? I don't reject things just because I think the source is biased. I listen to my professors objectively, get my own information on the subject, and then discuss the issue with them in order to better find the truth. (By the way, I don't just do this with my professors. My friends and I have some deep, challenging, and informative discussions all the time.)

Overall, I agree with your post. Rejecting ideas and information just because you don't like the messenger is not a particularly efficient way of decision-making and growing. You should always look at it objectively and research it for yourself. Not everything you hear is truth....

I was just saying based on that paragraph it comes across as short-sighted. Obviously, we've not met, and so I cannot speak to the actual depth of your outlook, so I can only remark on what you give me.

Overall, I couldn't care less about what a person believes, as long as it doesn't interfere with my own and they don't use it as an excuse to be a douche. I will admit that saying that thinking the Earth is only 6-15,000 years old gets the "crazy" alarm set to orange, though. Belief aside, the amount of evidence collected throughout the course of human history is pretty stacked against that theory being legit.

Belief is one thing, to reject substantial evidence (with little or no evidence against) is folly.

This is a problem though. Just because you "choose" to be a good person does not mean that you are... Have you ever done something bad? What made it "bad"? Are you constructing you're own standard of right/wrong? (When I refer to "goodness" or something being "good", I mean there is no evil there to contaminate it. Think of snow, even just a little bit of dirt makes the snow no longer clean.)

Christianity realizes that Humankind is not and can never be good. It is the only religion (as far as I know) that states that man is born evil. We have all done evil at one point and time (we are naturally selfish creatures). God does not just tell us to be good either. He knows that we can never be fully good and get into heaven. It is impossible for us to be completely good. Because noone is completely good, we all deserve to die in hell (that would be justice). Since God loves us, He sent His Son to die as a sacrifice on this earth. (Somebody had to pay the price for our sin and evil.)

I'm sorry if you already knew all that stuff, but that is the basis of what I believe about mankind being "good" or "evil".

What do you think happens when you die?

    Yuss! :) haha

Agreed and understood. (Btw, let me know if I start to sound like a douche, I'm not trying to... Just talking about what I believe.)

Also agreed that rejecting substatial evidence is folly. That being said, there is no proof that the earth is 4.55 (+/-) bil. years old. There is some evidence, but no proof. Even that evidence is questionable though. The processes most scientists use to date the earth is not very reliable/trustworthy at all (such as radiometric dating). Plus, there is a vast amount of evidence that suggests a young earth. Evidence in galxies, mud on the sea floor, comets, sodium in the sea, earth's magnetic field, helium in minerals, biological material decay, carbon in deep strata, the remnants of super novas, etc...

It's not as clear-cut as you may think.

Technically (according to the book) isnt JC up in Heaven chilling with God right now? What was the real sacrifice if they are just up there hanging out together lounging on clouds all day? God never lost anything (he still has his son) in this transaction hence no sacrifice.

Ive been wondering about this since driving thru Nebraska listening to Christian radio to help pass the miles.

Jesus is in heaven with God the father, and although he didn't give up His Son for eternity He did give up His life in a perfect world sitting next to God to surrender Himself as a sacrifice, to be the example for mankind and deliver the greatest message in the world... Salvation. But you probably already knew that.

The Sacrifice was for US, you me, TW, and rest of our homies. God is selfless and merciful and willing to surrender whatever to save us. The sacrifice was that Jesus pulled a move that He didn't have to. He separated himself from the Father... and mind you they have been together since eternity. That separation is what caused Jesus to sweat beads of blood when in the garden of eden, and the pressure of the world and bearing our sins.

Jesus was sacrificed so that Satan would not have victory. Satan HATES, and I mean, HATES Jesus as the devil wanted to BE God, much less be in Jesus position.

What's Jesus doing up there in the clouds? Pleading on our behalf to God because we were useless w/o His sacrifice and blood. It's only a matter of time before Christ returns, and we're in the very toes. Daniel and Revelation
Politics, yea sure, who cares we can drop that one. Delivering God's message isn't always 'comfortable' because it's contrary to how the world operates and thinks. Avoiding the discussion of God w/ anyone is an excuse to not talk about something that is otherwise not popular or uncomfortable. I'm not saying go preach on the street corners and blast our the word to all your friends in their faces... no definitely not. BUT if the opportunity arises never be afraid to offend your friends by discussing what's true, besides they will get over it, and if they don't, they shouldn't be your homies!!:D
Wives? Yea definitely avoid at all cost.

You yourself may find it accurate/logical but to another person it can be the most absurd concept ever. To me there is absolutely no way in hell I would base my beliefs on your concepts, and before you hard core Christians get your panties in a bunch, it's my beliefs deal with it.
