I have a 08 SR5 access cab 4x4 and would like to disable the open door chime when the key is in the ign. Does any one know if it can be done easily without disabling other sys. :taco:

    no issues after doing mine...

well actually there is one. some times the truck doesnt want to start the first time you turn the key but starts right up the 2nd time. i think i either lossened another wire or have some totally different issue...it doesnt do it everytime either.

but the cord you pull doesnt affect the starting of the truck...

I want to update on the door chime disable procedure. I unpluged the wire as discribed in the link in this thread and door chime is gone, however be forewarned it disables the system that prevents the doors from being locked with the key in the ignition. Other than that didn't seem to affect anything else. Be careful with your keys!!!!

If you leave the keys in the ign. and lock the doors and shut the doors your locked out with your keys hanging in the ign. I verified this with my spare key and remote in my hand!!!

Why would you want to do that? It's a good way to get your keys locked in the car someday.

The reason I wanted to disable the door chime is because being an avid hunter I spend alot of time sitting in my truck parked in hay fields in the summer with the driver side door open. Going from farm to farm I don't want to have to pull my key 15 times an afternoon when out varmit hunting.

I did this mod today. Took less than 5 minutes in the pouring rain.
I like the fact that it Allows you to LOCK the Keys in the ignition, that's a feature I use on cold winter mornings or extremely hot summer days.

FYI -- this mod prevents you from getting into program mode if you ever need to reprogram your key fob or add another fob.
