I skipped my last "Toyota care" oil change after they busted one of the drain plugs in my frame. I decided I was just going to maintain my truck, Toyota maintenance seems to be pretty crappy for general stuff around here.. it's also pretty pricey.

First time I measured 4.5 quarts when draining. I thought that was low .. figured it was underfilled from the Toyota care rejects.... When I filled it I put 5.5 quarts in.

Next oil change 10k miles later.....I measured 4.5 quarts when draining.. so in the long term it seems that I'm somehow burning a full quart 10k mile oil change intervals. That was enough investigation for me. I just changed the oil for the 6th time and I put 5.5 quarts in and I get a little more than 5 quarts out when draining.

This is the first truck I've had that calls for 0w20. Seems like it's a lil too thin to help with mpgs....I just don't want to fry my rings, so I follow the owners manual.... Says 5k intervals for "severe conditions".. I guess I fall into that category. 10k intervals seem to long with oil this thin.... If I want this truck to last over 250k then I will have to keep up on the oil every 5000 miles .... Not 10000

Yeah I’m sure it won’t make vastly more torque far sooner than your v6 lmfaoooo

So, your engine burned a bit of oil between changes and you never checked the level. But that has nothing to do with whether 10k would have any longevity effects

The rivian started like this too. Where it was an idea with a prototype and preorder option. I've seen a few in the road since then.

The wolf has a prototype and a pre-order option.... Not saying that means it will be produced.
"The fact that the company does have a running prototype does give us hope that the Wolf is heading toward production after spending quite some time as a highly attractive render"

I feel like the commitment of a vehicle purchase is so huge anymore, and preordering from a no name startup company is scary to a lot of folks .. like who are these people? Where will my vehicle get serviced? Is thing safe? Reliable? A POS? Will there be parts available?

We all razz about Jeep (just empty everything pocket), Ford (found on road dead), etc... but at least theres a record and point of reference and a history.... These companies like Alpha, Rivian, Tesla, ... We don't know.. they could be here today gone tomorrow.... That's a big gamble with a 40+ thousand dollar vehicle

Look closer at alpha. It’s shady as FUCK. Makes those clowns with the fake semi a few years ago look legit.

That’s cool. The Prius seems like a better fit for you than a truck. :D

I've been following Alpha for like 5 years and their stuff is just computer generated and only one probable rolling prototype they have driving. They are great computer artists and that's about it.

It is. Basically tell us what we want.

When I lived in Tucson, would see HiLuxes and HiAces up from Mexico. Neighbors brother would visit, he had a HiLux got to check it out, no diesel though. Built so much better than the Tacoma, even though they share some of the same components. At least the 4G is getting a boxed frame (finally).

There are a few 70 series Troopies running around here. Quite unfortunate we don’t get those. Highly doubtful they would sell well here, typical Americans are too engrossed in the whole bigger is better luxo barge thing.

Yep, I do all the cooking. Almost went to culinary school. Made Asian lettuce wraps. Dinner was at 6:ish. We don’t like traditional thanksgiving dinners, nor care to celebrate it. Canada celebrates Thanksgiving in October, right?

Like how GM sells a regular cab Trail Boss in the Middle East but not here. Such a sexy truck. I know not everyone here likes GM but the TB is a great truck. Imagine it with the 3.0L Duramax

    That would be awesome!

Both Ford and Chevy still sell regular cab short bed trucks, yet Toyota refuses. Heck they discontinued the RCLB. I really wanted one of those over my Tacoma, 8’ bed would serve me better. Tried finding one used, but all had high miles on them.

Still seeing a lot of anxiety here surrounding price & specs, so for the uninitiated, here’s how it will go down:

On Tuesday, Toyota Marketing will allow a timed reveal of the test drives, conducted by the finest hand-picked influencers on YouTube. Driving impressions will very, very favorable. And as most of the impartial influencers will be eager to be first in line to buy their own Tacomas, prices and specs will then follow.

Later on, the distributors will disclose how much the puddle lights they installed at the port will be added directly onto the sticker, and after that, the dealers will apply an additional markup to the windshield, usually written in sharpie. And, apparently much later, Toyota Credit may or may not disclose what was added to your loan.

This is all normal protocol, so there’s absolutely no need for people to start acting like a bunch of customers. Oh, wait…

Even if they are priced $100 over last year pricing it will be an outrage to some on here.

Customer of ours just bought a Rivian, quite nice. Be an ok commuter vehicle. Forget about towing or traveling in it. Incredible amount of inconvenience for a paltry $100K. Like you said, who knows if they’ll go bankrupt. Better wait until the mainstream companies iron out the EV conundrum. Too many stop gap measures right now to nail down which form of energy storage will be viable long term. Just sit back and watch the shit show.

https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/... kept my speed between, flat ground at 65 mph.

Unfortunately it won’t be a measly $100. Priced out what it would be to build a ‘23 as close to my ‘21 as you could. It’s $5K more. Toyota changed what is available on the base SR. Mine came with the SX, rubber floor mats, sill protectors, and bed mat. MSRP on mine was sub $33K. To get the SX package on a ‘23 which is only $500, have to get the SR5…bumps the MSRP to $38K.

And since Toyota got rid of the access cab for ‘24, the cheapest trim won’t work for me anymore either. I like 6’ beds and easy rear cab storage access. Probably means a SR5 DCLB, guessing MSRP will be around $42K. So nearly a $10K jump to get something similar to what I have now.

Since this thread is trashed anyways, anyone switch to a Raptor or F150, consider one, etc? I have opportunity for this truck and thinking of pulling the trigger with the first kiddo on the way and always wanting one since 2010 release.
