I’d buy a cybertruck anyway over another Tacoma. I’ve had to replace my AC condenser (leak, $2,000), had a leak at the rear vents that was a few grand insurance claim, and just recently did the rear coolant bypass pipe (&100 parts, 15 hours labor by me).

On the contrary, my brother has a Tesla model Y and zero issues. first Toyota for me and I like the truck but the reliability is not at all what it should be.

love Elon and what he has done as an engineer.

$100k+ cybertruck vs $35-60k tacoma not the same buyers. Could only make a slight dent in the top end model tacoma.

Until someone makes ev trucks for fleet sales the market is a nitch. Once(and if)they do sales, will skyrocket. Toyota carved out its market share by being cheap enough to attract customers then proving reliable enough to keep them and attract more. As it is any base model ev is already so expensive it wouldn’t sell to those who could afford it without the amenities that crowd expects for the money. When your gardener can buy one look out.

While a technically cool and state of the art, it's not going to be bought by truck people to do truck things. More of a trophy vehicle for affluent techno-nerds. More power to 'em I guess. I have a friend with one on order. He's got a sedan, which is a neat vehicle, but having to flat it 90 miles for repair isn't my cup of tea. Hybrids seem to be the best of both worlds. JMHO of course.
    Cheers.

The Cybertruck is just plain fugly. It might be a technological marvel but it looks hideous.

True for a great many 1st year offerings. Body styling often trails the platform but I agree. Plus, with such a small, short bed it’s just not tailored to be a work truck even at that. It’s more like a Ridgeline. Show me one with racks and 20’ lumber up top.

I for one, am not thrilled with just a turbocharged 4 cyl. Not big on EVs as well. Looks like I will drop another motor in the V6 Tacoma when the time comes.

EV’s have been a thing of the past for awhile now, Toyota knows it. Why do you think the new hybrids are NiMh, and it’s not for efficiency, it’s purely for power.

EV’s are just another tool to make the elite rich.

Speed limit is 70 either way, so I don't really care. Wrap your Tesla around a tree, and I'll get there when traffic allows.

Thought he is nothing more than a glorified salesman that buys and sells other people’s ideas with the help from family money and government assistance, yeah?
