Reading online there is different opinions on whether it is good for a dd. It seems like the people that actually have them say there is more rear end stability cause there is no shackle to flex left and right on turns and such.

The biggest downside I see is if you damage it out on the trail your kinda screwed.Your relying on two decently tight tolerance slots to be parallel and straight

Hahah I wish. I am working on it, I just need more hood time.

my welds are 100% structurally sound with good penetration but I need to work on consistency.

I'm still DDing mine for the foreseeable future, John got a new one haha. Interesting idea, makes a lot of sense but it seems really easy to me to jam that track and make life really bad for you. If there was a way to enclose the design and pack it with grease I'd be a little more intrigued

I was more talking about for me. I like the really low lift height. I don’t think greasing it is a very good idea. Going through water stuff will get in. Uhmw has very good frictional properties.
Even if I have a dd my truck needs to be very streetable. Tiff and I are talking about a honeymoon trip either out west or to Alaska. Years out though.

Hadn't even considered lift height, that would definitely shave inches off and put you where you wanted. Is uhmw that self lubricating cutting board stuff?

Yeah it basically does really well under high load sliding applications. It is also very good against abrasives.

I remember John, but, I couldn't remember if you were... I kinda remember something about a work truck/van... but... might not have been you...

As far as DD, I was more referring to longevity of the sliding pucks being cycled constantly.
Them getting packed up with muck shouldn't be a problem. Relatively self clearing, being open.
And strength... design could be worked into some heavy channel to alleviate the bending concerns.

I'm a an of as low as possible, so, I'm with you there....

Oh, yeah I've had a work van for a bit now so it's been nice but we'll see how things go with the move and employment if I can weasel my way into another one lol

Yeah my experience with uhmw wear parts is I have extras made but they never actually need to be swapped out.

I would be happy if they had a similar lifespan to a ball joint, like around 30k. If it was half that that would be okay too. I think they would be decently easy to swap out.

Not sure I like the idea of the pucks, I’m heavy so not really worried about lift either.

With the pucks and mud, salts and grime it could wear quick around here.

I am rebuilding this bitch, not totaled because “it’s so heavily modified “
Shops have crazy waits for body and paint so I’m going diy. Have a booth at work to knock it out.
