Dude said he got his electronic bits at Radio Shack. They filed chapter 11 maybe 8 years ago. Just saying. His last post was 3 days after this one in 2016.

Yeah, this is an ancient thread, but you never know if someone still stops in to check.

How long has this configuration been installed and working? And did you wire the 220 kilohm resistors in series or parallel?

I tried the configuration on my 01 Civic with a 4.7uf capacitor, and a 1 megaohm resistor (1/2 W, 5%) and it didn't work. Still trying to find the right configuration for it.

it has been 3 weeks now. still no light. the resistors were wired in parallel.

Interesting. That would put the total resistance at 73.33kohms. What was the point of using the 3 then? Just didn't have the right resistors at hand, I guess?

Ahh man guys i have had this F’ing light on for 3 years now on my 2000 2.7 sr5 cali emissions. Need to get emisions done one last time and trying to figure it out. They stole my cats, i replaced them with the cheapest cats i found on eBay expecting them to throw a code and then just bypass it with spacers. Well the spacer aint working and im not spending a bunch of money for real cats. Im not versed in all this electrical terminology and pretty much know nothing about resistors and capacitors and stuff. I tried reading through all this but i cant seem to figure out what the final verdict is. Is there a youtube video i could follow or something. Im not a mechanic but i went to automotive school and then endend up not working on cars for a carrer. i do everything on the truck, just pulled the head last year and brought to machine shop cuz of a burnt valve. ( thanks to the haynes manual) So im capable of doing whatever is needed i just need clear instructions or a final verdict on what works and maybe i can figure it out from there. Thanks! I love my truck but damn these emission codes suck.

This won't let it pass emissions still, keep in mind. So if you are actually in California, it won't do you any good. But, the diagrams using a 1 megaohm resistor and 1 uf capacitor posted in this thread did the trick for me on my Civic.

Im in ct and im allowed to have 1 or 2 monitors off as long as the check engine light isnt on. Okay ill try to wire something up like that. Thanks edit: o2 and catalytic monitors actually have to be ready in ct so im wrong. Will this allow the monitor to set if used?

Can you take a picture of the set up by any chance, i would greatly appreciate it. I suck at reading electrical diagrams. Does it mater which way they r wired in like how do i know if i have it reversed. There are two ends on the resistor and capacitor so does it matter which end gets sauterd to the wires is what i mean, im think im talking about polarity if that makes sense. Also will this make my o2 and cat monitors ready or will they say not ready but no check engine light? Thank you

If your state or county tests for emissions (measuring the output of your exhaust) you won't pass with the bypass installed. The only thing the wiring the resistor and capacitor does is trick the ECU into thinking the catalytic converter is functioning and it won't throw a CEL as a result. It won't fool any emissions tests.

They test for emisions thru obd2 only they dont stick anything up the tailpipe. And sometimes they look with a mirror quickly and other times they dont. So strictly from just testing thru the obd2 port they can still tell whether its legit or not? If thats the case then i guess ill not be driving my truck for 6 months until it hits the 25 year mark and then im legal again. ( no emisions testing on vehicles 25 years or older here) thanks for getting back to me so quickly

If they only check it by connecting to the OBDII port, then you should be good with this mod. The voltage readings from the downstream oxygen sensor would be all they could look at, which will appear as the catalytic converter is functioning properly. Wrap up the wires nice and neat afterwards, and you probably are in the clear.

That being said, you will probably have to ditch the spacer if you wire in the resistor and capacitor, or it may still throw a code. Not to mention, it's easy to spot. Don't make it easy for them.

I just got my engine light off and can attest this configuration works.
