118k. Just a bunch of little things starting to go. The thermostat is likely a result of when I overheated when the belt broke. Should be able to slap that in pretty easy.

Decided today that I'll sell the AMG and keep Foley. So at least I'll still have solid adventure vehicle when all is said and done.

interesting choice. But, hey, not a bad one.

Didn't feel like redoing the truck? which would be kind of back pedaling giving the direction you were going with it.

I mean I have the parts, I could buy a RTT but it just wouldn't be as good as the van for comfort. The van checks a lot of boxes. Like, I can take the van to Phoenix to visit my folks and sleep along the way. Sure the truck can do that, but not as well if I need a nap in a rest stop and is not as inconspicuous. Plus we have a custody agreement with Znüni and while Venice can ride in the back of the green truck, I don't trust Znüni, and having both dogs in the cab would be tight. The green truck doesn't have cruise control either. While it hurts to sell the AMG, I can always find another one. My van is much more rare in the sense, I can't find another one with the same setup. So I feel it makes sense to hold onto it for the long term for now and see what the future holds. The truck is great around town, kinda quick and reliable. The van I can stuff into my storage unit and is ready for adventure. Only bummer is this will strain the electric system as I can't plug it in full time keeping it charged but that's just a sacrifice I'll make. The van will be paid off, cost only fuel, insurance and indoor storage. The math works that it will "only" cost me $30k, which makes it a steal at that point. Plus I gotta say, I do really like the way green truck is now, small, easy to use and fun on the street. It's not as cool looking but I like it the way it is.

What really set my mind was realizing the AMG would only be driven around town on the weekends, which is fine but just a toy at that point. I walk to work, so it just seems like a major luxury for a couple days out of the week. The van will be of much more use.

Oh nice glad it worked out with the dog.

Certainly makes sense to me. Definitely get a lot more use for what you like to do with the van seems like. So good call I say.

Sounds like the right choice 100% to me.

And awesome to hear about Znüni, I know that was a tough one for you!

Thanks Dan. Gonna suck a chunk out of my "next home" or "investment fund" but feels like it will keep me doing what I love. Y'all just need to pick easy trails for me in the future

And Znüni has been a treat here this week. I walk them at work which is big and open and the tear around off leash and seem to be enjoying the exercise. We will see how it lasts long term but for now I'm enjoying her.

The plus side is the van will be indoors and have all my camping and fishing gear stored in it, always ready to go. Otherwise it would be one of the situations where everything is in storage and I have to load the truck between trips. I'm hoping to move it there tomorrow so I can figure out how to get the other stuff to fit around it in the unit. It's not ideal, but it's a start. It's hard I love my car and I love my van. Just having to ignore emotion and go with logic on this one. Ironic, since I follow logic through everything in my life other than cars, they are my weakness for emotion. Ya I know, something's broken in my brain lol

Anybody know if you manual swap a 3rd gen 4runner using an extended cab Tacoma trans and drive line, will it bolt up right or are they slightly different frame lengths?...asking for a friend

I would imagine the frame would be set for that being that they came with that combination. Drivelines will likely be different between them though.

Yeah the drive line was my main concern. Manual tacomas are easier(cheaper) to come by for a donor vehicle is all

exact same. Frame is basically the same as a reg cab taco.

You'll need different drive shafts though.

So I should find a clapped out regular cab for a driveshaft or need to find one out of a manual 4runner?

Do you have a driveline shop up there? I would just get the length changed on your existing 4r driveshafts.

Manual 4runners are kinda valuable/rare compared to a reg cab. Can always get a Ton Woods custom shaft made too.

Yeah I do, had the drive lines done there for the diesel project, was just wondering if I could buy a whole vehicle and have what I need except the bezel around the shifter

That I'm not sure. Plus you'll really struggle to find a v6 single cab anyways

    Welcome! Beautiful area your in.

Right, forgot about that small detail. Oh well I'm sure when I get around to it a plan will come together
