I have an '02 DC 4x4 and I bought it with a 3" front spacer and an AAL in the rear with Bilsteins all the way around. I believe the front springs are stock and I want the front to sit a little higher than it sits now, so would an aftermarket spring bring it up a little higher? If so, what springs would you recommend? This is a daily driver but I also use it off-road so I want a good, but not expensive, all around spring.

Edit: I may end up with a plate bumper and winch so keep that in mind.

bad news to go over 3" in the front with a 4x4. Your CV's wont last as long.

Do the stock springs ever get tired and sag? What if I installed a plate bumper and the weight made it sag? Then what?

Yeah, they can sag. If your looking to replace the spacer, look into the Old Man Emu 881 springs, with either their shocks or Bilstien 5100's.

Take a picture of your truck for us to see.. You can get a retarded DB lift if you really want. 6" lift, gayer than clay aiken, but to each their own.

On this suspension really, 3" is too much. 2.5" is the best spot for them. Also, why are you looking to sit higher? Mall crawler?

I don't need another mall crawler, I already have one. I need my springs to carry the extra weight of a plate bumber because this is going to be a legit off-road vehicle.

I'll post pics in the morning. It sits nice but I just want a little more wheel clearance up front. Just a preference.

    getting there....
if you are planning on running a plate bumper....better go with the 882 coils. the 881 coils initially gave me 2 inches of lift on my dc...but have settled a tad....been on close to 2 years. the 882 coils are meant for use with heavy bumpers and such.

Do you run the 882's with a spacer or without?

It really doesn't ride that bad but I bet if I put good springs on it I would feel a big difference.

Now if I put a spring, the spacer turns into a paper weight, correct?

After further review, I still have these parts under the spacer. I think I'll go with Eibach's if you say they were specifically tested with the 5100's.

because with aftermarket springs...it isant a good idea to preload the coils.

Not knowing much about Tacoma's lifts or suspensions, I wouldn't know if this was good or bad. I bought it like this.

If you set the 5100s on any other setting with the eibachs, you will see parts failures, either CVs or CV boots. And it will definately ride like crap and will shorten the life of the shock.

Going beyond 3" of suspension lift with stock upper and lower control arms is asking for trouble.

Robby, We are trying to help you here, and well you can't go past 3" of lift really. If this is a true offroad vehicle, you wouldn't use a plate bumper really, tube is much better, just as strong and half the weight. Also, offroad? One word SAS :D However, the 3" IFS lifted truck is extremely capable with offroading. You don't need lift, you need lockers.

Please don't get me wrong, I need all the knowledge and help I can get about these Tacomas. I like the tube bumpers, I just wasn't sure of their strength vs. plate bumpers. I have lockers and the gray wire mod and I have taken some pretty steep hills but I have yet to tackle any serious rocks or uneven terrain. This is still my daily driver so I need to still try to keep the weight down however possible.

About tube bumpers...I like the All-Pro front. Anyone have a different opinion? Plus, All-Pro is 30 minutes away.
