Today is just the day for electric problems. My stereo in the garage quit on me. Took the skin off and checked power in and the fuze in there. Both good. I'm at a loss now with all the circuit boards 20231125_153153.jpg

Here's what I would do: Go get some logs about 18-20" in dia. Strip the bark, and stain them
They make great side tables for chairs.
    Here's a few
    20200119_114215.jpg
Or, get two of them, use them for legs and get a rough sawn board and nail them to make a longer table.

I am about as far away from an expert in this field as you can get but here is my free advice for what it is worth.(Nothing)

Make sure the stereo is unplugged. Use Google to search for your specific manufacturer and model then if you find nothing try just the manufacturer and the type of stereo. It is surprising how many people love to trouble shoot this stuff online. Look at the circuit boards for obvious discoloration/burn marks. Check for other internal fuses. Sometimes there are more than one. Check the capacitors to see if any are bulging. Use the internet to show you what a bad capacitor looks like. Check for any components that have electrical bits and pieces that are loose. Sometimes over time and many heat and cooling cycles the soldering can develop cracks or come away from the circuit board. I have heard before that using a soldering iron to touch each connection long enough to solder each connection again can help but it is a long shot and it is very tedious.

The last thing you can try is to look for the same stereo on eBay, etc.....or just buy a new one.

Edit: I forgot to add that if you can replace the fuse easily that is a good idea. Sometimes the fuse looks good but is not.

Well, turns out there is a worse place to work than under that sink...

There is a small attic over the living room, it is equipped with a large enough door at floor level and the attic itself has flooring. However -- the triple wall chimney for the coal stove is in the center of the opening. :annoyed:

Getting in wasn't too much of a problem, getting back out was genuinely painful.

Odd as it sounds I can't wait to get back in the cellar. o_O
More entertainment for another day. :bananadead:

20231125_231855.jpg Every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I build 6-8 "crafty" little things we can give to friends. I have been doing it for years, and some have told me they put out their "Greg" collection in one spot of the house. This year it is little Christmas Trees designed to hold a candle. Last year it was a small wooden "crate" lined with Pine Boughs. The year before it was a candle holder and before that I don't remember. Anyhow, here it is. And it it relaxing to do this after the technical requirements of the table and bench. Took me an hour to build two of these. Enjoy!
    20231125_230752.jpg
They are 14" tall and 11" wide. They are scalable and the next ones will be 28" high.
If anyone is interested, the dimensions are here. The "Pgram" and "Trap" are parallelogram and Trapezoidal shapes of the pieces.
Used an 18ga brad nailer and Tite Bond III glue. Like a rock.

Well fellers, we go along thinking "it can't get much worse"...

The attic over the living room, that pipe is 15" from the wall on the left and the floor is 6" down.

    KIMG3607.jpg

I can get in ok (sort of), getting out is painful.
