He did you a mechanics favor… When you go in there, you remove all that stuff. Might as well get-er-done… The Tacoma has shorter intervals than the Honda for things like that, but Honda has shorter service intervals.
@RustyGreen I remember that service interval. You get to do all your fluids. I did them a bit early. My next interval is 70K which is about 2K away. Once I get my truck back.

 

What kind of setup do you have? I have a synology doing all my home backend.

 

Show us your remote. Many of them are the same, regardless of provider. It’s based on the box manufacturer, but has vendor branding. I have a few of my old ones I refused to return to my provider. They didn’t care and neither did I. Dropping Cox and going DirecTV Streaming was one of my best decisions. Probably $150/mo savings. I have RokuTVs, which made it easier.

 

If power at black/white connection is good and fuse isn’t burnt, I’d look at the caps for expansion, but from top view they don’t look bulged. (They puff up or leak typically for failure).

 

The black connects to the nail on the left and the white connects to the nail below and to the right. It’s not necessary to ground this one, it’s metric.

This is the insulation they used 50 years ago.
The silver part is very thin but quite durable.
The insulation doesn't seem to be fiberglass, it doesn't dust or make me cough.



Even in the cellar where it can be fairly damp it doesn't seem to break down.
I'm just re-tapeing it as I go.

I found the old table leg up here - for scaring off the occasional squirrel I guess.
